Is there anybody left that doubts it's removal from it's current location?

Me, a little bit. I mean, to be clear, I have no idea either way. I just like being a contrarian.

But what if, they attached spider legs to the crane, and made a much bigger spider using it as the centre piece?

As I've said in the thread before, why leave it up this long only to get rid of it now. Why not use it for one final showpiece?

Here is where they might be digging the footers for the spiders legs:

You wouldn’t dig the foundations of the crane out while it’s still standing would you? I’m pretty sure that isn’t the order you’d do it? They appear to have just dug random holes. Surely the crane(s) would need to dismantle it first, and for that you’d need a load of trackway down, of which there is no sign yet.

Genius idea, you could attach the spider eyes to the cab so it could rotate around and point it’s lazer beams at everyone, then still have the ball projector thing underneath.

You're still left with the giant thing permanently anchored into the ground without planning permission!

That would have to be insanely strong to be that far from the crane body!

It’s probably something dull like a trench for cables

This would be the one thing that would get me interested in the spider again. They did say the Spider had basically eaten the crane.when they replied to this guy. But it’s doubful

It’s sat there for years without planning permission.

Indeed.  That's why it's going.

Arcadia has confirmed it's going.  They are literally in the field removing it.

But you still think it's staying 😂

Nice idea, however...

...I have to concur.

I've made this rudimentary image to show it. I snipped the spider from the Monday after 2017's festival (couldn't get an image for 2019) and overlaid it on a snip from today, which shows the diggers. I made the spider transparent(ish) so you can see the relative position of the legs - it's not that clear so I've marked them with red circles. As you can see, they are far closer to the body of the spider than these potential new footings.

Nobody said they think it’s staying, we’re all just having a bit of fun speculating about what the alternatives to that might look like. You should try joining in.

    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
    • I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.
