I'd have definitely said Pharrell is. Weller obviously not so much, but seems like he was a stipulation for The Who coming over. Tame Impala might well end up being a sub, but considering the names getting thrown about for those slots third just seems a better fit to me

Yeah, given they played the Barrowlands last year (not a particularly big capacity) it seems a bit too early for the sub slot. Third down makes more sense.

This is why I reckon they are big enough to sub. Like Foals, I reckon they are ready enough for it. As somebody else on this thread (I think it was sisco?) said it's about time we gave bands that are just on the brink of getting massive the chance to play bigger slots.

I remember in 2008 when Kings Of Leon were given the headline slot everyone doubted them but then they got massive because they were given that oppertunity and managed to pull it off.

And just look how they repaid us!

Not worth risking again imo.

Think they'll be more likely to be in the Friday midday hip-hop slot if they're booked (which I very much hope they are)

Is this actually a real possibility?

Everytime I saw it mentioned on here I presumed it was a piss take.

Not that it counts for much but I saw Foals and Ellie Goulding at Sziget last year and Ellie Gouldings crowd was slightly bigger but not massively different. I'm always surprised by the amount of people that not only know the Foals but love them. I think they're good and great live but they are surprisingly popular. I think they deserve to be at least subbing.

Ellie Goulding is big enough to sub although I found her a bit dull and I'm a Coldplay fan!

Aah, the good old days. Before every covers band in the world played Sex on Fire.

Walk into any pub in my home town on a Friday/Saturday night and I guarantee you will find a covers band that will play either Use Somebody or Sex On Fire or both.

One trick ponies.

As much as I love them, I was at the Manchester show and the second tier of seating was closed entirely and the first tier wasn't full - we basically walked to the front of the standing area half an hour before they came on.

Can definitely see them playing third down on Pyramid, although I wouldn't be complaining if they subbed.

so are we thinking Adele announced tonight, or a tweet tomorrow when the BRITs hype has died down a bit?

I'm pretty sure I read there's a V announcement after the Brits. Possibly Annie Mac's dance stage? Could be wrong though.

Hopefully not but it seems inevitable so may as well get it out of the way now

Any reason? The pyramid is fantastic for watching music on

Primarily the sheer size of it, I like to get up close which is a hard task in the Pyramid. I have seen some special sets there, but they were all during the 90s when things were generally on a smaller scale.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
