Staggering that people prefer it overcast. This forum never fails to amaze me

Getting heat exhaustion isn't my idea of a good time. I don't understand why people like the idea of baking themselves. It is completely alien to me.

Of the two I've done, 2013 was by far the better for me, other than the bit on the Friday morning when I lost my balance on one of those plastic bits on the side of the metal walkways and covered myself in mud. With it being Glasto though kind people were quick to help me up.

I'm as much a peely-wally sun dodger as the best of them, but my mantra on this is unchanging:

You need to prepare for hot weather as much as you do for wet weather, but hot weather doesn't trash the site.

The weather doesn't bother me too much, ill put up with whatever we get.

In a perfect world.. dry. 20°C. So no one can really moan about it. Not too hot.

However, I liked last year. Not too hot for most of it. Times to cool down and a massive theatrical storm.

I would take that again in a heartbeat.

PLEASE don't let be like 2010 when it was sunny and 28 degrees.

Either extreme requires preperation, but extreme heat is only really an issue for part of the day, extreme wet is an issue all day. I know which I would take.

2003 was best weather in my book, followed by 2010. last year was miserable

2004 Friday was actually a brilliant sunny day too, but turned miserable saturday morning

It only lasted a hour, it wasn't constant in your face with the cold wind hour upon hour. The ground wasn't too bad to walk

on either.

The storm itself only lasted an hour, but there was a lot more rain than that. I was working Friday 8am to 4pm, and most of my shift was spent stood in the rain.

Most of the people complaining about 2010 only have themselves to blame. It's generally possible to compensate for the blazing sun - lightweight loose fitting clothing, a sensible hat, drink lots of water, seek out shade in the middle of the day, etc etc. I burn at the slightest hint of sun and was absolutely fine that year because I came prepared for all scenarios. Apart from the very small number of people with medical reasons, I've got no sympathy.

Pissing rain is a lot harder to deal with because regardless of how much you prepare, or what you do, you're going to get wet, cold, and covered in mud.

2010 all the way. Not only was it easy to get around the site, the cold beer tasted better and then there was the joy of seeing a guy trying to get some shade by lying under a bicyle. Pure joy!

I would take 2010 again in a flash. The shear value on my back of being able to sit my arse down alone is worth it, then there's easier walking, no twisted ankles from churned up ground or having to be careful getting in/out of the tent. There are thousands of advantages.

I take a white baggy shirt for hot weather, I couldn't give a shit for image so it's perfect to keep cool. There's water points all over the site, so no excuse not to stay hydrated. Bit of suncream and a sunhat and you are sorted.

Similarly for the tent situation, about 7am it starts to warm up, unzip your sleeping bag, throw it over the tent in the direction the sun is coming from and leave the doors open, trust me when I say it will stay plenty cool enough to get some more kip.

I get that some find it hard going, but for me 2010 was no hassle at all, the best festival weather I have ever experienced.

Horses for courses.

Having to prepare, having to make sure I dont get too hammered to stop me from being dehydrated. Having to deal with feeling uncomfortable 24/7 and lethargic. Seeing fuck all bands and acts because the only place to cool down is a bar.

Or I put a coat on and go about my day.

You prefer one scenario, I prefer another. I wont try and change your mind, but you won't change mine either.

Dry is DEFINITELY preferable for me, but boiling hot? No thanks. Ill take last year every time.

Stone Roses Friday at heaton park was perfect weather for me. Dry. Sun came out, but cloud cover for shade.

Extremes either way are bad, 20-5 degrees, short sharp shower once to clear the dust and cloudy at night to keep from freezing is perfect imo. Would take colder weather rather than hotter but that's just me.

2010 was a bit much for pasty me. The lack of shade was an issue, and having to cake sunscreen on for 5 days straight makes all those grimy feelings worse.

I just want pleasant weather, not too sweaty and not cold. That's definitely compatible with sunshine, just maybe mid 20s rather than late 20s. Still glorious.

exactly the reason why i prefer it not being particularly sunny. a few days without a shower is twice as bad with a layer of suncream and dirt mixed in.

last year was rubbish, it rained too much and at no point in the festival after wednesday could you safely sit on the ground. 2013 was great after the initial rain, the 2000 was fab, I'd take that again, mid 2000's were rubbish. A choice between last year and 2010 and 2010 would win hands down, yes it was hot but you could sit! Nothing that a hat, water and plenty of factor 30 couldn't cope with. And as for shade..... go into a tent! Watch some comedy or some circus or any of the other million fabulous things that go on that don't revolve around the main stages during the day. Long hot days and warm evenings, who could possibly wish for anything different? Plan it right and enjoy!
