Best Weather?

20 degrees and partially cloudy during the day, overcast at night. Weather that neither necessitates sun cream or wellies.

How about an undersoil irrigation system to keep the dust down?

As lovely as blistering sun is, there's nothing much worse than 5 day accumulation of suncream and the dust on your faceand that combo sweating off your face into your eyes....

I did Falls festival last few years and from memory 2013 was 42 degrees for three days running. That was possibly a bit too hot at times, but nobody was complaining and nobody that I know got burned or sick. I am looking for the pics and when I find them I will post them, lots of smiling faces.

2010 was uncomfortably warm for me. Last year was a bit much rain for my liking. First year I went, 2009, I recall being perfect weather.

If it's dry and not as hot as 2010 I'll be happy.

Have to say in the 10 or so festivals I've been too I've never felt like the weather has ruined the whole festival, though I would say it ruined my Saturday at T in the Park in 2012.

Or, you know, you could have a wash at some point.

It's quite nice to wash using the freezing Glastonbury tap water when it's scorching hot. Refreshing. It's much easier to get clean in a warm year.

I don't know where all this talk of 2010's nights being pleasant is coming from. All I remember is the temperature plummeting at one point in the late evenings and the nights being almost unbearingly cold. The sunsets were glorious though.

I'm probably being really stupid here, but what are the main issues that came along with 2010's "dust"?

EDIT: to add to the convo, last year was my first time at Glasto and the weather from friday to sunday afternoon was an eye opener.

Wednesday and Thursday were beaut though, first thing me and my friend did was go and grab an oggie and sit on the grass looking across the Other stage field.

when people were walking along the old railway track ' it was very dusty ' but most of the dust comes from the access tracks { that you would not see but they are there }
these shots were taken when there was no vehicle using these tracks - but don't be fooled as its not always like that as security drive up and down - there is many staff minibuses also use that route.
stewards were issued face masks who guard that area - when a vehicle used those tracks it would form a large dust cloud and if the wind was blowing east you would soon be covered in dust.
anyone who has Asthma would struggle with a heavy dust cloud.
even if a person down not have Asthma they still will get caught out when dust blows in the eyes.
they did try to dampen down the tracks with Water Bowsers.

I'm as much a peely-wally sun dodger as the best of them, but my mantra on this is unchanging:

You need to prepare for hot weather as much as you do for wet weather, but hot weather doesn't trash the site.

Or twist your ankles, prevent you from sitting down or make it 3 times harder to walk anywhere.

Nail. Head.

I loved the sun! Watching snoop in the blazing sun next to people spraying super soakers about (oh fresh heaven!) was a highlight & a half.

Layering up in the cold clear night temps & then waking up (in said layers) in a sweat pit of a tent after an hour or two of sleep was tough.

Every tiny bit of shade was taken, any indoor space was sweltering. Don't get me started on the smell from the long drops! I wouldn't change it for the world, but there's no denying 2010 was hard work!

    • So, what would the weather have been like at this year's festival?   It's been shambolic around here, the rain is soul destroying and showing no sign of letting up, bar odd sporadic days here and there. Disgraceful for June.   What's it like down there? Have we had a lucky escape?...

    • belated thanks for this ended up going, was a good evening and a great venue with a cracking beer selection (give the festival a few tips on that). Never been in before despite reasonably local.       Main takeaways from the film (as someone who didnt go for much later). The festival has changes a lot since then apart from the Green Fields that looked the exact same.  Me and my mate both agreed that Shambala is today than Glastonbury.   Cool piece of merch aswell.
