I don't even really like The Stone Roses (although I only have one compilation album) but I've been listening to them all day. The hype works, I guess.

I'd like them to headline. Would like to see them at some point but wouldn't mind missing them for something brilliant elsewhere.

I Am The Resurrection was particularly bad. Sold lots to my peers back in the day.

It would be terribly fitting if they end up filling in for the announced headliner because of a medical problem. We just need to break Chris Martin's collar bone, or whoever is in Muse.

With Glastonbury being the only big one the haven't headlined. I think they may be 2017 rather than this year but that's just a guess.

I don't agree with that - they've not played at BST (or any of the other Hyde Park gigs, or for that matter any of the other London based 1 day festivals). They've not done Bestival either and while they don't seem to be throwing money for headliners around as much as some other events, their capacity is easily large enough that they should be considered a major these days just on crowd numbers alone.

While they did play Reading in the 90s, it's long enough ago that it's meaningless in this conversation - the Reading crowd will be 99% different by now, and back then the Leeds leg didn't even exist.

No, that'll be the Sunday at the Etihad. Then they'll add a few more, all of which they'll want to sell before announcing that they're playing somewhere 150,000+ music fans are already going (hopefully).

Well Reni did apparently spill that there'd be two Etihad shows at that point as well as dismissing Glastonbury so he wasn't being discreet at the time. So if that's true - and it probably is - then I can only see the Stone Roses headlining if they are approached later on and aren't already signed up to another English festival.

So you mean he let on they were playing gigs they actively need to sell out and not a potential gig that is already sold out and if you have a ticket then another £70 isn't of interest to you. That's standard logic don't you think?, he can't say anything other than no at that point if they were.

Are you saying that Reni told Wooderson about the Etihad but not Glasto to encourage Wooderson to get a ticket for Etihad even though he may already be going to (and be able to see them at) Glasto?

why would he have blabbed about 'secret' Manc shows (nothing was going round about them at the time) but kept quiet about a 'secret' Glasto show?

We can all take what we like from what Reni chose to say, but I reckon there's more likely to be the truth within a consistent take of what was said than a twisted take.

They have a lot of free time between gigs, soundchecks, in the studio eyc and they like to talk shit, wind each other up, discuss rumours etc. Anyway, i've been on it this morning, the hottest thread is that one started by Reni about how he sat next to Wooders and Tugger. Man, it's set the site ablaze. Everyone is gutted that Reni didnt get a photo.
