Queueing at Glastonbury

Only went into the SE corner on the Friday night last year and felt the wait to get in was much shorter than in previous years with fewer bottle necks and a bit more space than the previous couple of years

Always find that area a bit hit and miss though and in the past have waited ages to get in somewhere to find its a bit rubbish.

Prefer the Park and Green Fields after main stages have closed where its a more relaxed atmosphere but still able to bumble into something interesting

Beat Hotel: no queue, (usually) excellent music from 12-3. If your stamina is good, getting somewhere good in SE corner afterwards is a doddle.

Agree, was going to say the same thing about Williams Green I usually go to the SE corner at 10-11 when most people at at the main stages get somewhere good and be set for the night or I go to Williams green / beat hotel and head to the SE at 2 or 3 no queuing

Don't queue for a shower/phone recharge/venue/bar/food/se corner/silent disco/noisy disco/tshirt/

The queues at the food stands are never that bad, but remember the same stalls have been in the same places at the festival for a very long time, so often if you see a queue, it's because it's worth it. That's pretty much the only place that logic applies.

Queues for venues are just for crowding and capacity. It's busy after the headliners as there's less stuff to do. But just go wonder elsewhere, there will be stuff to do without a queue.

Queue to get in the gate can be a 'mare though.

Only thing I've queued for at Glastonbury is toilets and food/drink, apart from the wait at the gate.

As others have said, SE corner is only at peak times you have to queue and there's enough venues that you shouldn't have to bother unless you are really keen on a particular place.

I like the park after the headliners, nice area with friendly people.

I will say that due to the queues in the SE Corner, you cant really plan to see a DJ thats on straight after another but in a different tent because youll spend half an hour or more queuing and miss most of the set, then try and get back to the tent you were in and end up queuing for that too.... I tend to commit to one or two venues in a night around SE corner rather than flitting around like I would at smaller festivals.

A few years ago there was a guy in the circus field who got us all to queue into an empty tent and then we went out the other side and rejoined the queue. The number of people who joined the queue with no idea what it was for was crazy, very funny when the guy blew a whistle and we all had to run away

Between the JPT and Pyramid but outside of the dance village. Nice little spot.

I'd heard good things about this whole area of the festival over the last few years, the blues is also supposed to be a great place to spend time. I'm hoping they continue to improve and diversify, so that people are less inclined to head for one area of the site every night, there's enough space for us all to play.

I say queue very occasionally if it's for something you really want to see but even then not for long.

Did for 15 minutes or so for despacio and don't regret it... but don't remember doing so previously. There's always other things to do.

The worst queue is the one to get out of the car parks on Monday. All you have waiting at the other end is the real world :(

That was terrible last year.

The longest queue I waited in last year was to get food from the bubble & squeak stall near the Park, was well worth it though :D

Didn't queue at all last year. I saw plenty of them but there are that many places to go, I just passed them by and within no time I was somewhere excellent. Sonewhere better? Who cares. I enjoyed every second and not a fan of very packed venues anyway.

I know, CG, I know...

I guess I was just trying to get a feel for the frequency with which one might encounter queues, that's all! (having never encountered that at a festival before).

I'd have no intention of queueing unless there was something I really had to see. Just wondered how prevalent it was, is all...

Ben

Only times Ive queued for anything in ten Glastonburys is to get in.

Oooooh!! Bubble and Squeak stall. Adds to list for this year. :D

Only queue I got in last year was for the underground piano bar, did it for 10 mins and left. Will try again this year and see what the craic is but not if there's a massive queue again.

That's what I thought this thread was about, initially. Forgive the tangent but I turned up at 5:15am last year, at Gate A. There were quite a few ahead of me but within 45 minutes, the queue stretched as far as I could see. Lots and lots of tired people interspersed by drunk lads who hit the Strongbow too hard on the overnight coach and must have crashed hard on Wednesday lunchtime.

Some pillock managed to spill strawberry cider all over my bag. All good though, really. I was in the queue. How could I be upset?!
