Ummmm... this is all looking rather splendid. Should I bother taking wellies along with walking boots this year? I have great wellies but even last year I abandoned them for walking boots. That would be free space for a few cans.

Take the wellies, leave them in the car. I say this as someone who will be taking walking boots regardless of the weather.

Still don't like the fact that low is hanging around the edge of the UK throughout the weekend. Will still be cautious until my mates arrive on Thursday with the report for the weekend

The language JACKONE goes with is always very much in the vein of someone who's not attended before.

Suggesting that 5-10mm of rain on that soil two days in advance (which will be completely dry right now) causing any issues is wide of the mark. If anything it'll make it a touch softer underfood, then be back to its solid ways by Tuesday. If anything, should we actually get some rain, it should keep the soil in healthy shape for quickly absorbing.

I remember the Park hill area last year on the Wednesday. After weeks of drought, it was cracked up like a scorched Earth.

Yeah, he's never been to Glastonbury and actually downgraded his ratings a few years ago when it was pointed out to him how quickly the ground dries. As of his latest reports he's dropped the mud ratings altogether, although maybe he does that at this time every year.

On the Tuesday before the festival last year he rated the mud at 6-7 based on the forecast of heavy rain on Friday/Saturday. In the event the ground was so dry it didn't result in much more than surface slush - not even enough to cover the trackways. Personally I would have rated it as a 3 last year.

This is as close to perfection as I've ever seen at this stage - warm, but not so hot that there are people passing out with sunstroke and dehydration, some light rain Friday  - to keep the dust down. Nirvana!  :beach:

I am currently packing extra sunnies ands straw hat.

3 with 1-10 being dustbowl - mudbath? I really wouldn't say it was that low. Probably around just past the mid-point, a 6-7 sounds about spot on because we got a bit of sun too so the ground recovered. At times it was pretty bad in some areas, not 2007 or even 2011 levels but still.

'Tis true that Jackone sometimes overstates the impact of rain on the site, but I don't blame him given he's not been. Rain on Monday for example will mean naff all by Weds I'd have though

I, for one, will not be tempting fate and will be taking everything I would be taking if the forecast was bad, except the dinghy.

I wouldn't leave the dinghy at home, even if it's a heatwave you will need it for something

I know I should take everything but coming by shuttle bus, I don't have the luxury of a car so sometimes you have to make a couple of executive decisions. Last year I took wellies and boots and even when it was wet I just wore the boots and I was fine. I can only imagine wearing wellies in the most extremely wet conditions and no forecast is even contemplating that so at this stage I think I'll just take my boots, which I'd wear whatever the weather.

    • Hi all, first timer at trees this year volunteering with Oxfam. Any tips or suggestions of must-sees other than the main stages on my time off? I keep seeing chats about the silent disco?    Also any smaller bands recommendations? Sprints / Arcane Roots / High-Vis style. Cheers all 🤝
    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
