This ones different too - they're all different. Basically no-one knows. Me ma always says - There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing......

She obviously wasn't at Glasto in 2007!!

To put everyone's (including myself) mind at ease someone has summarised for us on the netweather forums:

Once again this morning the models remain largely focused on the behaviour of High pressure positioned out to the SW of the UK and how much influence it holds across the UK. In the short term it does allow some weak fronts to cross South across the UK but rainfall amounts will be very restrictive and mostly towards the North. Cloud amounts will be large at times and this may hold temperatures down to comfortable levels in the North but some warm weather could be experienced in the South. Then next week there are indications with some cross model support that a period of more showery weather may develop as a more enhanced trough moves down from the North in the light flow. ECM is the most progressive of these outcomes with several days of relatively cool and unstable conditions. However, it does indicate too that High pressure may well build back after this at least across the South and East where hints that it might become very warm are shown. So in a nutshell today prospects remain reasonable and while a heatwave looks very unlikely in the near future as long as that High pressure remains out to the SW conditions look favourable enough for most people to enjoy some fine early Summer weather and although this may be punctuated with odd days of cloud and a little rain or showers no large rainfall amounts look likely across most areas of the UK for the next few weeks at least.

Were you there in '07?

Yep but that was extraordinary, like Noah's Ark!

The rain at DL during Slipknot was pretty damn heavy though.

I was just saying that I doubt that we'll get any prolonged periods of torrential rain, by looking at the forecasts and by the fact that DL fell on a particularly bad weekend of weather.

Urgh .. Not liking the look of the forecasts at all. Trust it looking likely to break on the day the festival starts after a lovely few weeks. Typical!

I blame all of this on those who complained 2010 was too hot. Well I hope you're all happy now and enjoy the rain!!!

I always think there's a chance that could come in earlier....

This has always been my forecasting tool, based on how the last few days have been since the high pressure from the SW that was dominating has broken down it doesn't seem that bad to me.  I basically watch the patterns in the days and weeks before the festival and it gives you a good idea of what the weather is going to be doing in the coming days.

The accuweather forecast is horrendous today:

I don't get it - why is Accuweather so 'out there' with their predictions?

Do you/any of the knowledgeable weather folk here know what they use to forecast or why it'd be so drastically different from just about everyone else? I assume/assumed they had the same data as everyone else, so either they can't interpret data correctly, or they're trolling festivalgoers....

    • It's gone past can I afford it, and more is it worth it?   For over half the shows I go to, buy a ticket the week of the show and chance it that it is on tickets or a seat filler.
    • Yep - Richard Tandy was in the band.
    • There was 1 other member of the band present, keyboard player, if I recall correctly.
    • Really!   What are these imaginary criteria?
