Yeah, was still raining heavily til midday Friday as well (it wasn't constant all night, storm about teatime, showers here and there through the night and then pissed down for a few hours in the morning). Sun that year was incredibly strong though, so it cleared up really quickly. I remember the cabaret tent being more rammed than I've ever seen it with people looking for entertainment under cover.

Spindles is right, I remember walking past the Pyramid in the morning with the other half, looking at all those watching the Abba tribute band in the pissing rain thinking 'I want a fucking pint'

Apology accepted ;)

I'll be sure to blame those dastardly immigrants too, if too much traffic means i'm late to site!

Yes, and them too! And don't forget, flares will give you cancer and Michael's cow's killed Princess Diana

My favourite post of the day. You get a better class of poster in Oxford though.

Don't be fooled. I'm from Oxford, as in I was born here, so all town no gown!

Was last year one of the worst then? I see the little arrow pointing upwards with 2014, hopefully that means we won't get a repeat of that! Last year was my first Glasto and that storm on Saturday was horrendous. Got caught out while watching Rudimental and then I think there was a second downpour at some point where I'd just gone back to my tent for something when it started. Shocking stuff. If that's way above average for Glastonbury then I'll be happy with whatever we get this year!

Edit: I see this only goes back to 2007 so there's probably a few others that were worse (2005 or 2006 when the big flood happened?) and a few better. Fingers crossed this is one of the good ones, anyway!

When not raining it was glorious. I was back in trainers in time for Neil Young.

Yeah, considering how churned up the ground was around the back of avalon it was almost miraculous how quickly the site returned to normal. Similarly the overnight rain on Sunday into Monday had basically no effect whatsoever and didn't seem to hamper people getting offsite. I'd take 2009's weather again, Friday morning and all.

Today, the average of the websites is 6mm:

Do you fancy explaining that 'trend' line a bit? The majority of the forecasts have predicted more than 2mm of rain but that line predicts less than that. Would a kind of weighted average rainfall (with more current figures given more weight) not be a better predictor?

This is all a question not a suggestion, I don't know anything about this stuff.

Loving these charts pedmills! Primarily because they're making me realise that previous years had more rain than I thought and the site coped well.

For example, my overriding memory of 2009 is of glorious sunshine, needing to change my black jeans because my legs were on fire and fighting for shade. I also remember the storms, but we just nipped in whatever was undercover for these and it was all good.

Even last year was absolutely fine - I enjoyed the big singalong to Hey Jude in the John Peel tent when the power went out and thought the mud levels were alright.

I have clearly just been scarred, so so scarred, by 2007 that I've become terrified at the mere mention of rain, but....as long as we don't see that weather (ever) again, we're going to be ok people!! :)

11 was just horrible at the beginning then all gravy IIRC.

My lasting memory of that year is coming out of Avalon stage from Devotchka to recover the guy I was dating who couldn't stop telling me how awesome a little sit-down rave he'd been having with everyone around - bone dry ground by then

I kind of just lobbed it in. I do intend to replace it with something better.

It's the logarithmic trend line on Excel. I chose that one because the other options end up going down below zero or up to infinity, and the moving average on Excel just looks completely stupid.

I'll try to come up with some kind of weighted average for the next one.

Actually...maybe I won't. I'll think about it.

Zero rain and 23 degrees each day is just about perfect!

Indeed! :) :), bound to change though I like to think positive otherwise i'll get upset :( . though when I think of it i'lll be pissed most part anyway :)

As much as I'd love a scorcher I'm resigned to the fact that it will always rain, it's just how you deal with it that matters! Dancing under the spider to Craig Charles in biblical rain last year was something I'll not forget!!!

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
