The Park 2015

Not even I can find fault or piss on your chips for this suggestion. I'm right there with you, Nal.

Could they be too big for the Park though? Id love to see them in the dark or in a tent or whatever. Not just the mid afternoon Other/Pyramid slot.

Either way, it doesn't look like their own festival is happening. Its usually Glasto weekend. It'll be 11 years and 3 albums (maybe 4 by June) since they've played Glasto.

is that thing with his son any good? it sounded unutterably awful from what i read about it. Worth a listen?

Ive been listening to Being There on vinyl all day so in comparison.... no. Id say theyre songs that werent good enough for the next Wilco outing but theyre very personal. Its a cool thing to do too. Its worth a scan through.

Tonyo. Youll get a few Wilco tunes at the end of the show. And I think given the right setting (headlining the Park) theyd nail it. Theyre not a stadium band and the Other and Pyramid are stadium sized gigs.

I adored Being There, but haven't really been grabbed by what I've heard of anything they've done since. What's the next best, Yankee Foxtrot?

Probably. Summerteeth and A Ghost is Born and The Whole Love are great too. Kicking Television (double live album) is also required listening.

Could Young Fathers emulate James Blake and headline The Park off the back of a Mercury win? I could see it working personally, popularity wise I would have said no but it's sure to rise off the back of this.

I cant see it happening myself, they will certainly get a more prominent slot but personally I think James Blake was a bigger household name before mercury win

My favourite of theirs is sky blue sky, some lovely songs on it

Cheers, so pretty much all of them then :sarcastic:

I didn't go much on Summerteeth at the time, apart from that miserable Loneliness song. Do like what I've heard of Whole Love, will try the others.

Enjoyed Golden Smog too, might dig that out for a listen...

Pretty much all of them yeah!

Summerteeth has Cant Stand It, Shes a Jar, Shot in the Arm, Via Chicago.....

11 years? that was 11 years! Seriously, where has it all gone, seems like only 5 at max!

Crazy isn't it? Same time between the end of WW2 and Elvis. Way too long.

After years of ignoring acts up in The Park, except chilling out during Stornoway (saw them again this year too) & secret Biffy, I am planning to make more effort to miss a headliner/SE & head up there.

Is it lively up there at night?

I think 'headlining' The Park could be just right for Wilco. But whenever they've played before (twice?) it's been to a fairly indifferent crowd. Maybe they're just not right for Glastonbury though?

But previous times they've played, The Park didn't exist. I think they'd be a perfect fit now.

    • Avril gets above GC on rarity (see Cypress Hill this year). She drew in something like 70,000 at Glastonbury, so much so that they had to close the field off. I’d wager that she would get the biggest crowd of the entire weekend if she was to play DL.
    • We've reasonably predicted/wanted a bill of Blink, Avril, Good Charlotte for a while 😅    I'm surprised that Good Charlotte's UK shows in November seem to be doing well atm... obviously if they sell out those venues then they should be subheadliners right? (if they play download that is). They'd only look a strong sub if it was before Blink though I rekn.

    • Well Jason Isbell is on blistering form for this run of European gigs, wonderful night in Bristol
    • I am also interested in this. I was looking for past years, and it looks like it has a limited capacity.  I would love to see Ela Minus, but I guess I won't be able to make it in time, unfortunately.
