The Park 2015

Not sure if I've missed something, but why is Patti Smith being discussed for The Park? I realise she's not everyone's cup of tea, but surely she'd be at least an Other stage headliner? The only way she could play The Park without serious H&S problems is if it was a truly secret set.

I think you're highly overestimating her current appeal. There is no way she would headline the Other Stage.

Headlining the Park would be the perfect slot for her. I'd be there in a flash too.

I'm guessing Hot Chip are far too big for The Park despite being away for a while?

Yes, they played The Other a few years back.

Two years ago they were heavily rumoured to secretly close The Park on the Sunday and many poeple turned up to watch. It would have been very busy. In the end, everyone watched the crew play with the stage lights for a while before taking them down.

I met 4 members of Hot Chip last year in the Park. So, you never know!

I don't think you can put that down to the popularity of Hot Chip. That was one of many rumours alongside Bowie, Daft Punk etc.

Loads of people seemed to think it was Atoms For Peace

On here yeah. I have to admit to being in the crowd and people around us were talking Bowie and Daft Punk. There was a big rumour someone had seen a personalised plate with DB on it, leading to everyone trying to remember how that hit by Another Level went.

Yeah patti smith would be incredible, it's a bit of a travesty imo that she wouldn't be considered pyramid or at least other headliner size but even better seeing her in a more intimate setting. If she did headline the park would she be likely to do horses in full or is a more career spanning set more likely? personally I consider Easter on a par with Horses so would probably prefer the latter. However, Horses in full would be pretty breathtaking (excuse the sensationalist language, I'm pretty excited at this prospect, might even get field day tickets even though its around a-level/revision time for me :/)

She's supposedly doing a Horses anniversary tour next year, so it would be that, I guess, but depending on the slot, she'd probably play other stuff too.

Reckon she's be on the West Holts, myself. She might not play big venues, but she's a bit of a musical ledge (that's short for legend) and loads of people who might not be big fans would go and see her, I reckon.

New She & Him is lovely. Park please.

Haven't listened to it yet, but I Could Have Been Your Girl was my favourite song of last year, and the video was excellent to boot, I do love some good old fashioned twee.

Seconding this.

Also I think it's quite likely beach house could have an album out next year - I think they'd be a great park headliner that hasn't been suggested yet - or are they a bit too "big"?

yessssssssssssssssssssss

I think they would be perfect for the park, but they have done quite well commercially this year I think they might be bumped up higher than the park

Are Future Islands really that big? They played a daytime slot on the Sunrise stage at Latitude this year, which is a small tent, smaller than the one Mogwai headlined, who also headlined The Park.

He hadn't done his funny dance on telly by the time they were booked for those type of slots though.

My uncle has been getting pished and dancing and singing like that for fucking decades. But does he get indie credibility? No, he gets a driving ban and a suspended sentence. Broken Britain.

Joanna Newsom has apparently been working on new material with 'more news coming soon' so that may be another one to add to the potential headliners.

I think that would be the only potential clash that would spoil AC/DC for me.

And even then as long as she did a longer UK tour it wouldn't be an issue..
