Great thing about the stage is seeing new acts you haven't seen before, and its easy to pop up to The Rabbit Hole and Crows Nest between sets to see what's happening in those tents

Nah, if he played it would be Pyramid or subbing (may be even headlining??) Other.

Don't know if it would happen, I don't think he plays live too much does he?

I think some people are overestimating his popularity a bit. I saw him at Wireless festival in the second stage tent & it wasn't exactly rammed.

If his new album is huge & released prior to Glastonbury then I could see him taking a big slot like the ones you suggested, if not then headlining West Holts is probably about right for him. (There's no way he's currently bigger than M.I.A).

But he'd only play shows with a new album, and there's no way it'd just go quietly, so it's fair to say he'd be too big.

I'm thinking Bestival will grab him to headline on some kind of exclusive rather than anything else now though.

If he's booked before the album is released his placing will be based on past success, that's the point I was making.

I could see him headlining the Thursday night at Bestival though, that sounds about right.

Didn't he say that there would be no more Aphex Twin shows, rendering such argument unnecessary?

From the Rolling Stone interview: RDJ: "Yeah, I love it. But doing it under Aphex, when everyone knows you, it's always really good fun, but at the same time, it's not really DJing. It's better if you do it anonymously. If they know who you are, they give you the benefit of the doubt. They'll just cheer even if you're shit. Whereas if people don't know you, you can't get away with those little mistakes, and it's much more enjoyable. I'm not going to do any more gigs as Aphex – not for DJing, anyway."

I can't find a link to the other interview Oor Magazine I think from Germany or Holland but he states that he wants to play live rather than to DJ, so hopefully he does a proper tour.

id love flying lotus to play. haven't seem him yet and been loving his music for years now. he'd fit best at either the park or glade id say.

i'd be happy to see flying lotus there and the other headliners not be too good so I can see a couple of biggies on the pyramid / other / west holts.

Okay, get this man to Glastonbury...

Found the interview bit which Aphex Twin talks about a visual show for Syro to Oor Magazine.

APHEX TALKS ABOUT... SHOWS
Will there be a new visual campaign for Syro?
"We are working on a new campaign. I want to work again with my friend Weirdcore(http://www.weirdcore.tv/), who also handles the visuals at my shows.
We are going to do some mixes together. I'm going to craft some mixtapes at home, because I haven't done that in years. I think I am going to put something on the 'net with him.
I wanted to do that years ago. At concerts I can't really see all the things he does, it's all happening on the screens behind me. He can hear me, but I can't see how he anticipates on that.
We have put a screen on the podium some time, but they forgot to connect it... I still wasn't able to see it! Very frustrating. I really want to stand were he stands, between the people in the first rows.
I dont want to stand on the podium, but just in front. When you perform live, it's no problem. But when you deejay, what really is less difficult than performing live, it's practically impossible because of the delay in the speakers.
It just doesnt work. You need to have your turntables behind the speakers, with stage monitors. When the speakers are just as far as the chair over there[points at an empty chair about a metre away] then you already have 5 miliseconds delay.
I did try it once in front of the speakers, but it still wasnt enough. The only alternative if you want to stand between the people on the front row, is to play live instead of deejaying, so I think I might do that again."
How concrete are these plans?
"I did a few sneaky mini-performances whilst I was deejaying. I had a computer next to me. But that doesn't really count. It will require an immense amount of planning and thus time if I really want to do that, and the time I spent on that
I rather be in my studio, making music. The chance of me doing more instalation-like performances is probably bigger. "

What about Real Estate? New album was out earlier this year but don't think they played this year did they? Would be pleasant for a sunny afternoon set on the Park.

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
