Just to let you know, Mum is recovering well in hospital. Phew! Now then. Out of curiosity I posted on the FB Glasto forum, how would you lot react if Taylor Swift was the headliner. I expected a stream of abuse judging by the Kanye comments. Instead there is a generally positive response from men and women which really surprised me. Quite a few peeps saying she would be great, etc. Just saying like

Good news. All the best Martin.

Is that because you know who is 3rd down Saturday/know where ELO will play/know ELO definitely aren't playing? Really want them to be there.

I don't know if ELO will be there or not. But do know they won't be in that spot :)

Florence is at Glastonbury this year.

No idea where she's positioned whether it be sub or headline, but she is definitely there.

I remember Emily Eavis saying that Flo definitely wasn't headlining, at the same time that she said that Coldplay weren't. Sub sounds likely :)

This thread is beginning to fucking eat itself.

It's been doing that since it started. Best thread on here! Having said that, it is time for the reveal now. Not sure it's coming anytime soon though.

Eight months trying to find a decent paid job as a journalist, and the Guardian are employing people like that as columnists.

For those who are not regular readers, the Modern Tribes column is satirical. Surely the last two paragraphs really give it away?

They did one on Mansion Tax protestors a while back that had everyone in the comments section going mad. Great fun.

You linked to a particular comment just so you know. :P

I'll say once the line up poster is out (the one which doesn't specify the order). As I don't believe I should really say until the act has at least been announced.

Not somebody already on the listings then?

Writes an article slamming commercialism within the festival, books a tipi for nearly a thousand odd quid.

That 'article' is fantastic

Because The Smiths were so warmly welcomed to Glastonbury in 1984, man. It wasn't like it is with Kanye now, no way.

    • Maybe you need a groovy mayor who can get you the money.   Anyway, looks like mayors going to get a whole load of fiscal devolution and greater powers...so best everyone gets one, a decent one, and get a load of Madchesterism.

    • Another great weekend with family and friends.  We spend most of our time between Obelisk, and second stage due to having young children.  Overpass, Florence Road, Nathan Evans, David Byrne and Alex James were the highlights for me.  Quite enjoyed a dance to Gok Wan on the Saturday too.   Certainly feeling the Latitude blues this week and looking forward to next year.   Also looking forward to all the predictions for next year in the 2027 chat.   Hope everyone had a great festival.
    • How much is Burnham's success down to Manchester getting a shitton of investment for public transport infrastructure?   There's no doubt he did the work, but the money dumped into Manchester for him to achieve that was huge - the most of any infrastructure project outside London ever. Did that need a mayor, or just the money?
