Well I dunno, there's more crossover between the festivals than one might assume (Foos, Mumford, Arctics, kasabian etc.) - I guess FR likes to go for exclusives or "sort of" exclusives so that's probably why the two don't normally share headliners in the same year.

Doubt Libs will headline this year though, what with emily's comments on Foos being the only rock band and them playing a lot of other places that no doubt offer more money (if less exposure).

Hmmm true. The only thing that's stopping me from giving this up is that if they've got the money from Reading/TITP/all the bloody loads of things they're doing, then why not do Glasto if they get asked - they've always wanted to do it as a band and why not go all out before they peter out and die again?

Edit: I think I just made a hilarious pun and I just want to say I'm very proud of myself.

I think she must have just meant in a 'heavier' sense or something. Otherwise we'd be ruling Blur out too.

Yeah fair point actually.

Still I reckon Libs'll go for the money over glasto, I think blur have a shot (I'm sticking to my Foos, Kanye, Tay Tay convictions though)

Read that as "Before Peter outs and dies again".

I feel like Pete's gonna take the Keith Richard route. If my (future) kids ever try and get tickets to see a washed up and old libertines on their 7th farewell tour I'll be very disappointed.

As much as I love them, I just think they look so unlike what their original image was (I'm too nostalgic for the old days before they went grey and had kids) that they're kind of going against everything they originally stood for... 'Death on the stairs' and all that

I doubt it's headlining but it opens up another festival slot, if Reading had them solely on an English Exclusive, just like IOW with The Prodigy, they would state it. Certainly not going to state it for M&S and state it as a UK only fest for Metallica and not for The Libs 1st ever UK fest headlining show. I don't see another fest for them to turn up at and FR know the end of June would be so early in the year that putting a tag on them would be erased 2 months before it stood anyway so would look silly! They aren't going to risk what Download did with FNM tbh. Also remember than another warm up show for eg, wouldn't stop it being an English Fest only. MB hasn't even used the South of England as apposed to North of England haha.

Yeah this is a given I think. When she says rock, she means the likes of AC/DC are out that heavy the heavier thing. The likes of Blur rarely touch anything that heavy, Song 2 and Parklife are about as heavy as it gets lol

This whole 'Foos are the heavy headliner this year' thing. Does anyone know the exact quote from Emily? I've heard people quote it on here as, 'the heavier act', 'heavy act', 'rock band' etc.

yeah it was rock band, which then plays on what she 'thinks' is a rock band as you could conceivably put blur in that category

Blur as in one of the most famous 'brit-pop' bands going? I'm not so sure she would describe them as rock band.

You guys and girls don't half read into things do you. I go for the simplistic approach of wait until bands are announced rather spend useful time probing the text of things that Emily says.

Could be BST (cue argument over it being a festival or not) but if Blur do announce a second date she'd be out of that too.

Ah true, forgot about BST but if they're classing The Strokes as UK Festival exclusives then it has to be considered a festival.

Forget Bowie i reckon, friend i was talking to today said he heard Bowie's health isn't very good atm so cant see him doing Glasto

If Bowie was playing i would 100% have gone

Don't take it personally.

But if you aren't going to go, why are you on a Glastonbury forum, talking about not going to Glastonbury?
