Alt-J would be so much of a much better sub than Weller. Really don't know what they're thinking on that one.

LOL, let's not take this too far! It's a too higher placed booking, sub defo, regardless of his tour size, it's way too big for him but it's way better than Alt-J!. I wouldn't surprised even if he's agreeing to play Glasto to get publicity and gain ticket sales for his tour afterwards. It'll be alright as long as he chucks some Jam stuff in. I couldn't complain really, I'd rather he was 3rd but I did kind of want his inclusion.

Scott and Neil from this site said they believe it's him, so it's assumed the Holland gig has been / will be cancelled or moved or whatever

I haven't seen Neil say he believes it's him?

but also second at Wireless, and has headlined arenas since then. i'd definitely pin him as a sub now

Don't be silly floorfiller, defo a sub, go home lol.

I'd say Pharrell could easily play 3rd at Glastonbury. He hasn't even sold out the one arena he's doing in this country.

In fact I'd put him more 3rd than 2nd. Or other headliner. Suppose it's all individuals perspective

You mean except for the two o2 arena gigs and MEN gig last year.

i took Scott's 'we believe it's Weller' (or whatever was said) as both him and Neil

Don't be silly floorfiller, defo a sub, go home lol.

i think he'll be a sub, but if Flo slots in above him and somebody else is subbing Foos then fair play to the festival

That was last year wasn't it. I meant he can't sell out Leeds arena this year

There's got to be more to this than meets the eye. If they were struggling why didn't they just get Blur? It is beginning to smell of another Purple blow-out. Didn't one of the rags report P***** had pulled out again?

Ah I guessed you did, I just meant that I hadn't seen it from Neil himself, I thought you were having a Matt42 moment for a minute haha ;P. I think if Flo is anywhere but Foo's sub it'll be Saturday as per Facebook. I think the only realistic chance of a different sub for Foo's is a surprise Taylor announcement as no one on the lineup really warrants it.

In fairness though, Leeds isn't the most popular when it comes to sold out venue's. You have Manchester and Sheffield venue's no far away either. I think Pharrell is a big act but I don't see him as huge.

Weller's been upgraded to a SR so it's fair to say they think it's him.

I hadn't seen that yet but as above, my reply was more to not actually seeing Neil's comments on it.

i don't think it's as simple as 'just getting Blur again'. you'd think Damon + co would be up for it, but maybe they do hold their '09 set in such high regard that they wouldn't want to spoil it with a lesser show this year

it has been reported that Prince pulled out. Emily denied it. but tbh, it definitely seems like the most likely outcome and cause of all this

People may not like Weller, but he has the history, catalogue, sales, tour success and current creativity to warrant his position.

I saw him play his own massive outdoor gig at Warwick Castle last summer. Loads of Jam stuff, selected Style Council and early stuff that will please casual fans. I think Weller into the Who is a bit cliched, but individually merited.

Now, will the Rifles be playing? :D

I'm hearing Weller as well from another Source who I can't/won't name but Neil knows who it is

Should add the person in question said they believe the festival were trying to secure Weller but wasn't sure if they had for sure .

Can't help but laugh about the headliners in general this year. It's been mental.

My personal favourite moment was when people genuinely thought we would be getting some weird super group collaboration.

I think Johnny Marr will play as well, kind of always thought that since that gig though. I have to admit I said to dental plan a long time ago when the gig was announced, despite what he has said, I thought it'd be strange for Paul to play over or close to that weekend two years in a row and not play the 2nd time if not the 1st.

a part of me hopes it continues on to next year (and the next, and the next...) but i'm not sure i could handle the sheer madness all over again. this final headliner seemingly being penciled in so late obviously delayed findings out even moreso than usual though so hopefully no more of that in following years

This late on? She said last week they had a great penultimate. What is going on!

i don't think the festival would ever let on that they're struggling to book acts - if asked or prompted, they'll always act like they've had it nailed down since the end of the last festival, and hope that nobody finds out otherwise

I saw an acoustic gig of Wellers about 10 years or so ago, wasn't too bad. English Rose, Headstart to Happyness, Malice. Finished on a cover of I Shall Be Released.

And whilst I've not listened to them for years, I was a fan of the Jam and Style Council. I'll bow to no man for his and Talbots piano version of My Ever Changing Moods.

He takes himself far too seriously however, and I recall him being utter garbage at one festival I attended. Not for him the ambivalence of a crowd not solely there for his music

This is just me being diplomatic but stop... it seems like you're trying to turn your nose down at me at every opportunity to beg this board not to ridicule you.

Im sure i will have a good time exploring the festival. This is my first Glasto so i will just enjoy taking it all in i assume, but as a first timer i have to say, so far the Line-up is shocking.

Rumours like these are doing nothing for my optimism.

the lineup is great! who were you expecting / hoping for?

Sorry if any of this has been said, but it seems that the fact the festival are trying to attract Weller, and the fact they have a great penultimate aren't necessarily connected statements? Doesn't Glasto try to keep the sub and the headliner a little different?

Could Weller play third a different day, keeping his PinkPop commitments, and Sunday's second to last slot open?

    • Feels like Leeds getting axed is just a matter of time now, and to be honest, it might be the only way to save Reading. The whole twin-site format just feels proper dated and way too expensive to run nowadays. If they scrapped Leeds and focused entirely on Reading, turning it into a proper London-adjacent day-trip fest for the younger crowd like All Points East or Wireless, it would actually make sense financially. But yeah, for the old-school rock crowd, the R&L era is completely dead and buried.
    • Its the obvious  place to find savings but will Ed Miliband play along? Will Labour MP's finally accept benefits cuts? This is as damaging for Reeves as for Starmer. Its hard to see how either survives. Meanwhile Burnham is bringing up WASPI when there is no chance they'll get anything. He'll have to say something about funding defence.
    • Yeah, I managed 2 at once last year but the setup meant 1 per purchase, my partner had to do her one separately using her code   14th Primavera, bring it on!
    • I’m heading to this but need to leave on the Sat. Does anyone have any experience of getting back to the train station without the shuttle bus running? Seems like it might be tricky
    • and cut net zero of course
