tbh it doesn't really add up because The Who + Weller including breaks will be well over three hours, but just a thought! something has definitely gone amiss with this Sunday night headliner. somebody fucked them over royally - i fail to believe that they had nobody in mind until a month ago

It can surely only be Prince refusing to commit this far out and Glasto kept waiting until around easter and then decided to cut their losses and look elsewhere. And then realised that there wasn't much else available.

So where's this whole Chris Martin being involved thing fit in to everything? All very weird and very messy.

The things people say when they can't get a gig at a big festival.

I used to be quite into the mod scene but The Who and Paul Weller have about 7 songs I've heard and haven't just gone 'meh' (that includes Jam songs). Maybe I'm just a stuck up twat like Tarquin.

It was actually Mark E Smith of The Fall that one, but it's just showing that these people can say this about the festival and then show up on the bill. :P

yep it's pretty weird. perhaps they were even gonna give somebody like Prince a mammoth headline spot (he likes his three hour shows, doesn't he?) and when he pulled out they needed two acts to fill the gap

yeah, i suppose if it was to be a long set, they might need 2 acts.

would surely be easier to bump up 3rd Alt-J?) and find someone to fill that 3rd spot.

i dunno why Prince would pull out in March considering he's done plenty of festivals before with a few months notice. presumably there'd be some sort of legal ramifications if a contract was signed and he cancelled.

unless of course no contract was signed by April, which is Glastonbury's fault really.

It's because some people don't star his name. Pointing no fingers

Given what The Who have done it'd be pretty rich of the festival to complain about cancelled contracts.

An I thought it was a given. Didn't know it was possibly wrong

It is wrong, she's subbing the foos on the friday

Pharrell is subbing Kanye. as Pharrell can only do the saturday

There's no way Pharrell is playing third down.

I love Weller but have tickets for his November tour so that'll be the missus made up being able to see Jamie T (hopefully) and there being no major clash

well somebody came along ages ago (before lineup was announced) and said he'd heard Flo was subbing Foos, and her positioning on the lineup poster would also suggest this, so her being listed for the Saturday is a weird one. plus i think Pharrell is definitely sub sized now

Why exactly is this Weller rumour now gathering pace? This says he's still playing in Holland...

http://parkpop.nl

Appears being booked to play somewhere else doesn't matter this year.

Next year's rumours are going to be off the chart considering it's a free for all unless your dead.

but also second at Wireless, and has headlined arenas since then. i'd definitely pin him as a sub now

Yeah, I'd have him down as a sub, but I was just pointing out that third down could be justified

    • They will have strictly 14 days to comply, at the end of which they will strictly have another 14 days to comply.
    • Bonobo has a new album out in September.  Touring the US the end of this year, so hopefully UK dates and festivals in 2027.  Would make a superb Park headliner.
    • I was following up to pink_triangle's post about what Reform are saying they will do to find money for defence spending.   But with Labour, they may well water down or delay some of the net zero commitments, they may find ways to cut welfare spending with Pat McFadden's welfare review thing, but I don't think it's going to be near enough. They really tied themselves down with the tax commitments in their manifesto, just reversing Hunt's NI cuts would have gone a long way. Under Burnham I think they may try and reform some of the tax system, land taxes and levies etc. Certainly needs reforming. But that might all be after a general election if Labour were to win.  I reckon they will try and do something with fiscal rules to borrow more, and try and persuade markets to go along with them.  (and he's already rowed back on that waspi thing...I think his team and others in Labour had a word).
    • Feels like Leeds getting axed is just a matter of time now, and to be honest, it might be the only way to save Reading. The whole twin-site format just feels proper dated and way too expensive to run nowadays. If they scrapped Leeds and focused entirely on Reading, turning it into a proper London-adjacent day-trip fest for the younger crowd like All Points East or Wireless, it would actually make sense financially. But yeah, for the old-school rock crowd, the R&L era is completely dead and buried.
