Sunday:

Pyramid - The Who

Other - Chems

WH - Grace Jones?

Park - B&S

Needs a standard indie band in there to satisfy the kids, yeah? Cribs on JP, tah.

Foo Fighters, Kanye and no idea for the Sunday night atm. God I wish the Mothership was Sunday.

FFS?

I don't disagree, blackred, but as regulars to this site, and to the general environment of all this, there's speculation and speculation, isn't there.

It seems inconceivable to me, given the national press coverage, that GFL and/or The Who are not entirely aware of this speculation. Were there to be no foundation to it and it's all bollocks, then I wuold (perhaps naively) hope that The Who's organisation would have issued a statement reassuring all ticketholders for the 28 June Paris gig that all is hunky dory. The counterposition to that is that idf it is all bloocks, they may feel that they do not need to give any concession to The Sun's sensationalist shit and make an announcement, as those Paris ticketholders have nothing to worry about.

Add to that the various, credible bits of info - Neil's stuff, the apparent movement of other gigs around that date etc. and, despite being a confirmed non-conspiracy theorist, I find myself coming down on the side of thinking that, on the balance of probabilities, The Who are playing, and so will have screwed over their fans. Given my rational appraisal, I feel comfortable to express my displeasure for what I believe to be a shitty way to treat people, by a group of incredibly privileged indiviiduals, out in that privilege, as has been said numerous times, by the same type of people they seem now to be content to disregard.

On that basis, I'm gonna gently hold my position as Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells until such time that Paul McCartney is announced and we all look like a medieval mob with torches and pitchforks.

:)

Ben

I wouldn't give the Sun rumour on it's own any credence, I would give some weight to Neil's 'other sources', however at the moment he hasn't said he knows anymore details about the booking.

As far as making announcements, if this was not a planned leak then I don't think you will hear anything till Tuesday at the earliest - while the entertainment industry might seem to be 24/7 I reckon it would after the bank holiday before all the relevant parties could get together to make statements/denials/cancellations/announcements.

Having been around a while I would definitely wait till we have more info before sharpening the pitchforks.

The only thing I don't get is why ME 'gave' fleetwood mac to IOW, which is what I think Neil said earlier in the thread somewhere (apologies if that's all wrong). You'd expect someone as acclaimed as Prince/Bowie to have become available for that to happen.

As it stands, I'll probably be doing Hot Chip, Kanye and Belle & Sebastian, likely followed by the end of another headline set. This all stands to change with the full line-up announcement, though. Well, aside from Kanye, who's a must-see for me!

Caribou, Kanye, Chems

That's if things pan out as expected. There'll be a nasty Hot Chip vs Caribou and Chems vs Belle & Sebastian clash, though.

Im the same, but am I being optimstic in thinking its going to be caribou -> into Hot Chip?

Depends who's headlining Park and West Holts and indeed the other stages that i should make such an early decision. Out of the headliners on the Pyramid i'll be seeing none of them with the possible exception on the Who with guests and even that's 50/50

All of my headliners are TBC. It depends on Park and JPT.

Same here. Until things are official I'm making no decisions. It sounds like another clashtastic Friday could be on the cards at the moment though, we shall see.

Think Neil said it's because Fleetwood Mac were asking for a price that Glasto weren't prepared to pay

Looking like Foos, Mothership & SFA (please!) for me.

Re the Sunday sub, Weller is playing ParkPop festival in Holland that night so it can't be him. Unless he's cancelling that too!!

Good news. I do like Weller but I think Noel is a much stronger booking

Then it's definitely Noel. Case closed.

A few people on this thread are getting rather precious about a concert date being moved. in the grand scale of things a minor inconvenience for Paris ticket holders, the majority of which will be locals, so giving them a months notice that a gig is pushed back, is not that big a deal. Yes, it's a pity for those travelling within France & those from further afield (probably a good few Brits have flights / Eurostar), but your maybe talking a few hundred people (prob a lot less, and of those, a high proportion can hopefully extend their stay to make the new date, or can amend booking / don't lose on hotel / train / flight ....so the Who see a chance to go out on a high by doing Glastonbury, it's a very easy choice for the band and let's be realistic gigs get moved for all sort if reasons all the time, doesn't make it right, but opportunities / eventualities arise.

It's happened to me a few times with gigs (and with football matches bring rearranged for TV etc... had flights booked to go see Morrissey a free years back and the gigs got cancelled, I thus lost my money, I wasn't happy about it, but knowing Morrissey always a risk he cancels gigs.

Would be nice if the who did try an organise something for those travelling to Paris that may lose out though (let's perhaps give the band themselves a chance to say something about that (if any of this actually turns out to be true of course:-)..

Just realised, at the V&A Michael said the headliner couldn't be announced because they had "clashing" dates (IIRC). At the time I thought it was just an odd way of saying they had other dates that still needed to sell tickets, but perhaps he did literally mean they had clashing dates which needed to be resolved first.

Yeah, it's a comment that seems to have been overlooked, but it was along the lines of "there's some sort of clash to be rearranged". It's in the V&A thread, but it wasn't specific to whether it was the headliner or sub this referred to.

I've had gigs cancelled on me in the past, but it's only been when artists have been sick or died, rather than for a better payday. I think that's what riles people about this, that it sort of pisses on the fans to do that. The fact that it's been mentioned that Morrissey did it for Glastonbury and no one batted an eyelid is why I haven't harped on about it myself. I just don't like the who.

i'd have thought going out on a high playing your own gig to your own fans in the city you're from would be better.

especially as it's only Glastonbury, it's not like they have some sort of affinity or history with the place, like they have with IoW....

now their final gig in the UK may be a festival they played a few years previously, to a load of people who just want to hear 5 hit songs and will chat through the rest....

maybe when you get to a certain stage though, you don't actually care about any of that and just want the cheque for a few hundred grand....

So your in a band,(you've been everywhere , seen & played all round the works multiple times) but circumstances arise where you have the chance to play in front of 80-100000 people at one of the biggest music festivals in the world / screened live on TV to millions one last time. (Probably due to another headliner pulling out / negotiations breaking down so Glastonbury are on the look out)

One issue is you have a gig for 6.000 people in Paris, but you could move it back a few days and still play anyway,

Of course your going to do Glastonbury.

Irrespective of the money the Who would make, the ego massage is huge for guys that long into their career, that's probably as much of a draw

What an awful set of headliners. Bland and uninspiring.

However, I don't really care. I'm still chuffed im going. If anything it means I'll continue my tradition of spending more and more time around other areas everytime I go.

Thinking the same although will probably be watching Kanye out of morbid curiosity if nothing else. This will be my first Glastonbury so was really hoping for at least one amazing headliner but then again I know my expectations where a little unrealistic and what might be amazing to me would be rubbish for someone else.

Any way still looking forward to my first glastonbury and the rest of the bill looks great even if the headliners aren't to my taste
