I'd disagree there, The Who have many more recognisable hits than Prince. More for me than The Stones too, but that may be down to my preference. Macca is in a different tier altogether, but you can't say that The Who don't have the hits.

Obvs headliner size, just think they'll be unremarkable.

Anyway, I'm seriously happy about this. Was never expecting to be 3 for 3 of loving the headliners. Just hope there's some bands on in the day I can have fun with,

tbh i think it would be necessary to round things off with a prince argument.

Can someone else mention why the stone roses are playing the other stage.

What about emeli sande, she'd be great being subbed by blur?

An oasis reunion also seems very likely.

Where's matt42, he needs to make another prediction, i need to know why it must be taylor/blur/fleetwood mac/florence/prince.

Martin needs to explain why the two acts headliner are taylor and hawkwind.

But finally, for one last fucking time:

Has anyone mentioned Muse?

The Who are brilliant, no doubt about it, but the problem for me is The Who vs Chemical Brothers is exactly the same lineup as in 2007 - I watched up until Behind Blue Eyes, then went over to watch the 2nd half of Chemical Bros. Would just be a bit disappointing to see exactly the same clash again! And the whole Paris thing makes it harder for me to believe it's true, but you never know!!

Ok get this.

The Who are playing BST on 28 June. There can be no cross over of audience because if you were going to Glastonbury you would never be buying a ticket for BST because it's this same weekend. Therefore there is no reason to withhold The Who being announced for Glastonbury on account of BST?

Now TBC :(

While there has been a mistake with this is the past, I think that lesson has been learnt and this wouldn't be up if it wasn't thoroughly believed.

And the bright side to that is what, exactly?!

I'm presuming your post is cheeky irony? ;)

His turgid solo output is the worst type of beige irrelevance...

...oh, perfect for a Pyramid sub then, actually!

Apologies, all. As you were.

Ben

While it was a cheeky post, I was kind of expecting it partly before now. Trust, it's for the Oasis hits and a few of his own songs, fuck all of his new album mind!

there's a bright side.

we can get going on next year's thread and nobody can be ruled out, regardless of what else they have going on. it'll be a free for all. it'll be crazy. up means down. left means right. a gig in Paris means fuck all. have we totally ruled out AC/DC? no, of course not!

can't wait.

Radiohead. It's gonna happen. New album will be out, they'll have finished touring it, Pyramid Song on the Pyramid, mark my words.

I'm not happy for the people with tickets for the Paris gig but would be personally over the moon with The Who.

My favourite band ever, best band I've ever seen at IOW 2004, brilliant when I saw them at Hyde park, never thought I'd see them at glasto. My only concern is a repeat of 2007, unless this is where the supergroup part comes in and they are going to do the songs of quadrophenia and tommy with guests like they have done in the past.

What lesson do they have to learn? We're the ones who took the TBC as gospel, so shouldn't we have learned a lesson?

They're playing BST on the 26th - but that is still a clash with Glastonbury. Maybe people are less likey to brave the bad sound of Hyde Park when they can watch the Who on the telly a couple of days later?

Whilst that probably makes sense for most people it did not stop me having a day our from Glastonbury in 2010 to see Pearl Jam on the Friday. But any big fans of The Who that were inclined to do similar would have probably bought a ticket by now anyway.

it's an odd one but it may just be the contract, no more shows announced until June 1st. It could be because of the Belfast and Dublin shows or even because they're worried people won't bother with tickets when they can just watch them on the TV (I imagine that's really an issue if there are still tickets left late in the day)

*fires up Spotify*

*searches The Who*

Done the same. Nothing is changing my opinion of them. Love Substitute (always have), quite like some others (always have), the rest leaves me cold. I guess by now, if I was ever going to get into them, I would have done already.

3rd successive Glatonbury Sunday in the Caberet Tent?

No, we can only learn what is in front of us, like Neil with nothing badly intended can only do so himself.

Sunday from late afternoon onward on Pyramid (based on last years times)

Lionel Richie 16:20 - 17:30
A N Other 18:00 - 19:00
Noel Gallagher or Paul Weller 19:45 - 21:00
The Who 21:45 - 23:15
Looks pretty bleak to me at the moment though guess others will love it.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
