I want to believe it, so I am quietly convinced this fits into everything we know about whats happened.

With regards to them not being booked before, we know that Micheal (and most likely Emily) like to keep to their word once they give to an act, so maybe the fabled act that pulled out was booked/slotted in around the time The Who booked their European dates? Fits roughly I guess!

Anyway, they was ace last month at the RAH, would be brilliant to see them do a last hurrah at Glastonbury :D

Now I've had time to process this, I do actually reckon it's a goer simply because it fits with just about all the criteria we think the headliner fits and more importantly every other bugger is ruled out or implausible. There will surely be word to follow about the state of this Paris gig this weekend and then we'll know. I'll be more than happy to go off and see B&S and someone else or catch the end of The Who so it works for me.

Nope.

Therell also be support from an artist like Paul Weller or Noel Gallagher. It will be a dream night for rock fans.

"A dream night for fans of plodding dad-rock acts whose careers peaked between 20 and 40 years ago" would be more accurate. Blergh.

This is kind of believable just for the fact they've picked up on that they're scheduled to play Paris that night, rather than just plucking their name out of the air and making a headline.

or they've read efestivals and said "oh, who has a gig in June that is still to sell out now the Blur have again denied it, and is big enough to headline", and have made up the Paris cancellation as they can't think of anyone else who can fit the criteria.

Possibly. It might be bullshit, I just find it slightly more believable than stuff I've read recently. If they are willing to re-arrange their Paris gig then it surely makes it a lot easier for Glastonbury to book them than Blur or FM. I am hoping for Blur, but this seems a lot more realistic than Fleetwood Mac to me.

Not sure what to think, really.

The fact they know about the clashing Paris date makes me think they wouldn't tout them as headliners unless they were sure, because it looks so stupid.

On the other hand, what an awful booking it would be. I thought Blur coming back would be odd because they'd have played a similar set 6 years earlier, but at least they have a new album. The Who would be literally choosing from the same songs.

Surely they wouldn't re-book them rather than bumping up Flo? Unless they wanted someone established to balance out the Kanye hate.

Personally, while they're not who I'm hoping for and not really someone I'd pay to see on their own, I probably would quite enjoy The Who if they headlined. Obviously for those who saw them last time they played it's a bit disappointing, but I think the whole 'final tour' thing perhaps gives them more weight as a headliner.

The percentage of people who didn't attend last time they played, who are going this year must be quite big as well. They would definitely have a massive amount of interest if they were announced. I would find it a disappointing booking myself if I had been there last time, but the fact is there will be a hell of a lot of interest in them playing if they do. I would go and see them, although I still want Blur mostly.

I was there last time and I'm hyped as hell. This is more exciting than any of the names we were throwing around (if only because I'm already seeing Blur the week before). I'd only be happier with Macca.

Aye, I meant for the general Glastonbury goer who would enjoy The Who but would rather see someone different than the same set again. I've never seen them, so I would be more than happy to go and see them, I would even bin The Chemical Brothers for them just because it is gonna be the only realistic time I would see them now. Suede in JP on Friday, SFA at The Park on Saturday, then The Who at the Pyramid on the Sunday with Noel subbing would be a great weekend for me. All sorts of stuff to see below that, without what else there is to be announced.

Exactly my thoughts.

The Kanye episode may have left a big impact on this.

Then again, if they have gone to The Eavis' and said "we want to do it, it's our last ever tour", rather than being asked to play: in some ways its a no brainer.

Just dull.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
