Are you saying you Won't Get Fooled Again?

Yeah, and I just want to close the festival with something more current, I'm Talking Bout My Generation.

If this is true well we needn't bother having a 2000-page thread speculating about next year's trio. What's the point when bands just go around cancelling existing dates that supposedly rule them out at the touch of a button. Fuck sake.

A moment of clarity from you Quinner.

From the article - 'This string of dates has been heavily reported as their last ever tour, and perhaps they really do want to make their final appearance in the UK at Glastonbury Festival.'

That kind of makes sense in a twisted way. I still think it's bizarrely improbable but if this really is their last ever tour I can see why they'd want to play Glastonbury over that French gig.

They were actually pretty good in 2007, and deserve a chance to do it again some time without the rain pissing down. But to cancel/move a gig less than 2 months out seems.. unlikely.. especially in a major city on a limited date European tour where lots of fans will have booked transport + hotel rooms.

The Morrissey example doesn't really compare, that was on a tour where he played damn near everywhere so would have had a much lower percentage of travelling fans. And there was an extra months notice of the move.

If they wanted to play Glastonbury that much and thought it was a possibility then surely the Paris gigs could have been arranged for a different time?

If this was a done deal as far back as the ETC event or even that quote above in February, then that Paris gig would surely have been rearranged by now...

Which would give it away if they have to hold it back for BST.

The tour's been on sale since December, and surely would have sold out quick, does it really fit with the "still got tickets to sell" theory? Or is that out of the frame to be replaced by the "still got 6000 french people to piss off" theory?

unless the slot became available after they had set up the Paris gig

    • Brazil's first half was genuinely dreadful all round, not just the midfield, so they're absolutely not bulletproof. Whether Scotland have the quality to take advantage is a different question.   Tbf, that's as much on Morocco looking good, which I did think was a possibility. They could be a bit annoyed with themselves not to have scored more before Vini's goal tbh.
    • Surely nowadays with so much data analytics available on every division in world football and so much awareness that people aren't suckered in on the basis of a decent World Cup game... right?   Although tbf, from what I saw, Australia's game plan worked very well. But that was as much thanks to Turkey blowing varying opportunities given they created enough chances but couldn't finish, a la what happened with Switzerland against Qatar when they really could and should've won by 3/4 goals.
    • I missed Viagra Boys for a good spot for Gorillaz. Was a nice weekend and festival for me. Would definitely come back, if the line up is right. Get back home safe everyone.
    • The Last Temptation - new Heaven 17 documentary film directed by James Strong. Premiered at Sheffield Docfest this weekend.    I really enjoyed it. Affectionate, insightful, and honest. A nice mix of archival and footage, interviews and clips from the last tour. Martyn and Glenn are like an old married couple.   Plus a snippet of news from the Q&A, Martyn is recording new BEF material, and Phil Oakey has collaborated on the one of tracks. The film shows them meeting in Fagans for the first time in over 35 years.
    • Glad I’ve still got it booked off for my 50th
