I love his original music, but his guitar solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, is the best guitaring from an artist that is still alive imho

Mumfords did 'With a little help from my friends' so no reason Prince could not do While My Guitar Gently Weeps

I didn't say he couldn't play it

I didn't see that With a Little Help From My Friends cover anyway. I can't stand Mumford and Sons and With a Little Help From My Friends is one of my least favourite Beatles songs.

Obviously there's no way its common knowledge but the pre production will of started at a high level and I'd be surprise if the didn't know a full line up by now. But it will be a tiny group of people know that ibformation.

none of the pre-production stuff would need to know precisely which acts they're broadcasting. The actual scheduling would be a very minor part of things.

The only thing they might need early notice for is to start the talks with an act about broadcasting, but it's perfectly clear from when the Stones played that that process didn't start till quite a while after they'd been announced - so nearer to the festival than now.

Luckily it was not the awful Beatles version, but the incredible Joe Cocker one

You'd regret it, I guarantee it!

More than I regret seeing Arctic Monkeys over Portishead in 2013? ;)

It all depends on who's on at the same time, but the last 2 other closers have been The XX and Massive Attack, both of whom I'd see over Prince.

Great solo from Prince yeah. A bit "stunt" guitar playing though.

Heres Claptons isolated original.

If Glasto HQ had any sense they will have called Eric this year. Its borderline criminal that hes never played.

A great solo has to fit with mood of the song imo. if its prince just shredding as many notes as possible in a ridiculous solo, then i cba with it. the songs called while my guitar gently weeps ffs! but havent seen it yet so just assuming!

He's not alone, Mr N.

I fully expect to be watching music at Sunday headliner time, but there would need to be a pretty dreadful selection of alternatives to his purpleness for me to be at the Pyramid. With the sort of acts around this year, I can easily see 2 or 3 of the other principal (pun intended, ahthangyoo) stages drawing me there, rather than watch him..

I think he's a phenomenal musician, and I have great regard for his integrity in a business full of talentless narcissists (he being a talented narcissist, obviously). But, actually, having grown up during his pomp and zenith (before he gave away albums with an execrable newspaper), I always found him a bit too slef-indulgent. Saying that, my wife, then girlfriend, and I spent two weeks listening to Lovesexy through a single earbud each on the beach on holiday when we were bairns.

He is a massive Prince fan, so maybe they can sort something out. Eric's Favorited ever song is Purple Rain http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p009mdm4

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
