Excuse me if I've missed over the last 1300 pages but who does Neil think it is? The Stone Roses, Prince or Bowie?

The Stone Roses could be out of the picture.

Neil has strong reason to believe it's a Male Solo Artist (who will have a backing band). And the deal is just waiting to be signed and sealed.

I really hope it's Prince. I saw a couple of his hit and run gigs last year, Shepherds Bush and Manchester Academy. He was the best I've seen yet. And that's not an easy statement for me to make.

He's a dick, but he'll be incredible.

If they wanted Prince this year, I can't understand why they haven't even signed the agreement with him yet? Fair enough not announcing it .. But by what Neil has said it seems like there isn't even a signature on the dotted line.

They would have know he could be problematic to get finalised, so why leave it until now before having anything agreed?

Maybe a complete curveball like a Bowie has cropped up recently?

i don't think they're JUST going for Prince now - they've probably been pursuing him for ages and he's still in talks. it would certainly add up with Neil's Flo could step up theory if he decides to not do it in the end (although that would be a truly tragic result). much like how Rolling Stones apparently only signed up the day before the lineup was announced, except moreso because Prince is an awkward shit

I kinda assume the thing with Prince is that he and his people work within their own time to agree to stuff, which is more the reason that he is often announced late instead of agreeing but asking to be announced late or something.

You've got to consider why Florence would take a sub slot over headlining other big festivals such as Reading, Bestival, Latitude etc.

Maybe being told that you could sub a legend such as David Bowie would tempt her and if such a deal falls through she WILL headline.

No idea if she'd have been dropped a name though considering the secrecy of this year but can see why subbing Bowie has more appeal over headlining other festivals.

Dunno, maybe it's because she wants to prolong her tour? Much easier to play one festival this year to give your album some promo, then play multiple festivals next summer? Longevity is the only thing I can think of.

Haha you are completetly clueless. Backing band? absolute nonsense. 3 incredibly talented musicans who are as much the roses as Ian brown.

Not overly familiar with the old sarcasm thing I see.

EDIT: For a second I forgot you were a troll, my bad.

    • I love this festival but Mordor has got worse and worse to the point now that I dread going there. 10 years ago there just weren’t as many people, as many bottlenecks and there wasnt the need to arrive early to have a decent spot.
    • Aren't they against touring?
    • If my memory serves me right, it was the other way round - when PS 2022 lineup was released it was already confirmed that she plays Barcelona in May.
    • Cheers! And yep looks identical to Green day's scheduling
    • Reading all the feedback with interest.  If there are now 75,000 tickets officially sold, plus who knows how many more people blagging in - then on the Friday evening and Saturday in particular, it's not ridiculous to suggest there's 50,000 people at Mordor, which is a stadium gig - except with much worse sight lines, an inferior PA, and far less bars and toilets. The Thursday evening in 2022 was of course infamous but on the Friday night for Beck I was trapped about 150m from the stage, surrounded by chatters, and with no prospect of getting nearer the stage.  With hindsight that was when I realised the fest had one way or another fundamentally changed.  Also noting on Reddit that some folk didn't enjoy the Cure or Gorillaz because the sets were "too long".  In future bands may be better received if they actually just play their top 10 Spotify songs then get back off the stage.
