That has just thrown the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons

you could pick any major act's name from the air and suggest a big announcement could happen.

I will say this only once....

WHAT I SAID MEANS NOTHING AT ALL.

It merely suggests that the Roses might well still exist, perhaps. How that suddenly becomes "they might headline" I'm not sure. ;)

It's only a source saying he wouldn't be surprised if they played out of nowhere, based on no information whatsoever. The most interesting thing in that is that it doesn't appear they have finished.

Just to throw in another name for Billy big bollocks' clues, Muse played Sunday in 04 and by all accounts nailed it, and they're free on the Saturday.

Also a rock band so there's that. Also would be as shite a booking as Coldplay so there's that. Also probably unlikely in terms of touring schedule so there's that. Also exclusive to Download so there's that.

Muse played one of the best sets I've ever seen in 2004.

Don't back track.

You clearly said "The Stone Roses are playing Saturday, Subbed by Iggy Pop"

I read it :)

and to be fair, that is the most interesting thing that's happened on here in a fair old while

Saw the Roses a couple of years ago at Finsbury Park and Brown's voice was the best I've heard from him live.

Same here. That gig was sensational.

His voice was ok at Glastonbury when he headlined the other stage too I thought, the year Kylie was meant to be playing. He opened with 5 or so roses songs. Wonderful scenes

There's some footage of that on YouTube, Made of Stone, absolutely class. Field is absolutely packing too

Which night were you in Manchester. I don't remember it being butchered but then I was right at the front and could hear the crowd more than him.

Sunday. With the sing-a-long you could only hear him sing the odd line but I remember him being well off on the bits I heard. He was a couple of keys lower.

Saw them in Dublin after and he only fluffed a few lines I think. But thats what you get from him I spose. Drink enough and sing loud enough and you won't notice!

Agree with Russy too. When he played the Other he sounded great. Much better than either of The Roses gigs I saw. The band weren't of course. The other 3 Roses were fucking ace.

I can't stand The Stone Roses. What am I missing?

A band that were ok but somehow managed to capture the hearts of a generation by knocking out anthems that you could belt out while dancing like a knob.

They rightly pissed off after being found out with a shite second album and managed to stay away just long enough for their fans to have had families that were old enough to be left alone, while they donned their old bucket hat and went and got smashed in a field with their old mates from uni.

I was a few years too old so didn't really get the appeal.

Too old for the roses maybe, but you'll always have Spandau ballet

Taking one for the team there. Well done

He's singing along to Mr Brightside, so if I don't hear any GF news then it's going to be a miserable evening, hopefully he drops a couple of good tunes along the way

Neil,

Any chance you could tell me that, if i should happen to buy a lottery ticket this week, then there would be a chance i might win the lottery?

Then i can post excitedly:

OH MY GOD! THIS JUST MADE MY DAY!

IT IS NOW HIGHLY LIKELY THAT I'M GONNA WIN THE LOTTERY.

AMAZING!

Thanks.

    • First forecasts claim that though it gets cooler on the weekend (33C-ish), heatwave will be back by Monday. They expect at least 37-38C for next week, they don't know if it goes up to 40 degrees or not. Going to be tough.
    • Already notified me last night. There is always the chance from the waiting list but from my experience, I either win the ballot or miss out. I have never been offered tickets from a wait list for Blue Lights. Had them a few times from Concert For Carers. Hopefully, others on here will have better luck.   We're sorry, but unfortunately, your name has not been selected for All Points East - Deftones (Outbreak) - Sunday 23rd August 2026 at Victoria Park, London on 23 Aug 2026 at 1:30 pm on this occasion. We'll add you to the waiting list, and we’ll be in touch if tickets become available.
    • Agreed. She was in self-promotion mode. Something big could be anything to an artist who already knows what's planned. People have just applied Glastonbury to it, even though the artist might not have been thinking about Glastonbury at all.  She never hinted at it being Glastonbury in any way shape or form.
    • The Pyramid is long overdue a rethink. It looks archaic in this day and age
    • With a good undercard and sensible pricing it might be doable. Took a long time for the Sunday at Tramlines to sell out though. Hopefully now they'd have some good footage from this year's shows to help with the promo.
