i'd be happy to see the Roses again, but i wonder if the idea of being live on tv puts them off. they could easily have released the Heaton Park gigs as a live thing, but didn't.

Saw the Roses a couple of years ago at Finsbury Park and Brown's voice was the best I've heard from him live.

several of their comeback gigs were broadcast live on TV or on the web. some of the Isle of Wight gig was shown on Sky Arts too.

Place would be rammed yeah. Saw them twice on the reunion and Brownie was ok. For him.

He butchered Made of Stone in Heaton Park mind you. Butchered it. Put the tune down on a freshly oiled walnut block, took out his rusty Deba Bocho cleaver and blindly hacked and stabbed at it until people had to wrestle him away from it for humane reasons.

Mani said recently that they are still working on new stuff for this year

I don't for a second think they'll headline Pyramid though, just dreaming

The only IOW performance was Fools Gold that was on Sky Arts.

Think there was only I wanna be adored from Beni as well.

Im a fan, caught them on the comeback trail and would be ecstatic if they were announced for Glasto and a new album at the same time.

No t much, but in fairness - there was less 5 years ago.

I caught them at TITP in 2012 and Glasgow Green in 2013. Thankfully they were on form both nights, particularly Glasgow Green which is one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

Some possible bad news though for anyone hoping for a new album anytime soon. The Mani comment about a new album in 2015 is an old article from a couple of years ago, which a load of people have managed to miss.

The most recent update we have is a quote from Noel Gallagher last month:

Noel Gallagher: "I did 5 gigs with them - two were fucking great ,the other's were er, okay.They should never have said they were going to make another record ,though,because now I don't think it's going to happen." Says a man who sounds like he has insider knowledge. He continues." I was out recently in Manchester with Mani and said ,,'so what's happening with the Roses? And he was like 'fuck all,fuck all', now,maybe they've a triple concept album about fucking robots ready to roll ,but I don't think so."

Last news from them were rumours that they've broken up again.

If this was the rumours going around last year, it was a rumour started by someone on a forum which he later admitted he made up. That's not to say they haven't. I wouldn't be surprised if they found that it wasn't working trying to write a new album together anymore and they've just put it on the back burner without breaking the band up, then we might see them come back for another pay day in a few years. Surely Ian Brown will be due another album in a year or two if The Roses aren't going to be active though, so we should find out soon enough.

That video above is truly awful, but I was at Heaton Park and absolutely loved it. Transcendent. It'll be a crying shame if they've split up again without headlining Glasto, their dance/rock crossover anthems are perfect for the festival.

Which night were you in Manchester. I don't remember it being butchered but then I was right at the front and could hear the crowd more than him.

I was there on the friday. The sing-a-long was like nothing I've been to before or since.

The landlord of our local went to see them in Barcelona a fortnight before and every night to heaton park. He says the Friday was "the" gig.

Amazing atmosphere. Had to walk home though as taxis wouldn't come.

I made some enquiries recently via s decent Brown source, and while he wasn't the holder of any actual knowledge he said he wouldn't be surprised if a big Glasto announcement came out of the blue.

So, from that, it doesn't sound like they have.

Going on the last time they came from nowhere, the less we hear just now probably the more likely they are to do something

I wouldn't personally expect them to be there, but i wouldn't be shocked or upset if they were, been great over the years
