I don't know how anyone could think Metallica would play anywhere other than Pyramid headline. Sure, Glastonbury may not be their target demographic as much as Sonisphere or Download, but they're one of the biggest bands in the world, absolutely massive. They'll headline, no question about that.

Are you calling Neil a liar? :P

as Neil pointed out earlier, they were almost definitely lined up to headline Other, and only Prince being a no-go has allowed them to step up to the Pyramid

Neil's already said they were down to be on the Other before Prince fell through..

Of course they'll headline now we know they're booked for the Pyramid but it was by no means as certain as you're making out before yesterday.

edit: getting silly now..

oh right i thought they were making out like he was a second headliner?

and yeah Skrillex vs Arcade Fire seems to make more sense anyway

Well he wasn't announced as a headliner but I suspect he's getting a special guest deal or something. I don't think he'd sub at Glastonbury, unless he's subbing at V, then I suppose it's possible.

I wouldn't expect Metallica to do anything other than headline Pyramid, but has Neil actually specifically said they would be headlining? Or that they will just be playing on that stage (maybe as a sub)?

As I've said they deserve to be headlining it and probably will, but just asking for clarification really.

Metallica won't be subbing anybody

Elbow are subbing AF and I could never imagine them subbing Kasabian.

Can't think of anyone who could've been booked for the Saturday headliner who would be able to appear above Metallica on the bill.

Still debating in my head whether or not I want to go and see Metallica, I'm not a fan but I can imagine they'd put on a hell of a show. We'll just wait and see what's going on on the Other :).

EDIT: PLEASE GOD DON'T LET EXAMPLE BE ON THE OTHER ON SAT.

...could be Lorde?

I'm actually hoping that he's there. He's the sort of poppy, dancey (shite) act that would certainly provide a real alternative to Metallica, and would probably attract a lot of the younger crowd. And let's face it, he's bound to show up somewhere, so if he does so while I'm watching Metallica then he doesn't waste a slot :)
