*prays for The National*

re Metallica, where should I start?

I'd suggest Through The Never - double live CD. Give you an idea of what sort of stuff they were playing on more recent tours. Nice little run at the start of disc 2:

1. Master of Puppets 2. Battery 3. Nothing Else Matters 4. Enter Sandman

Neil thought Paolo Nutini was a contender when we were looking at the route of who could have been originally booked to sub Prince then bumped up, and who is also a bit of a different direction from the rockier Kasabian/Arcade Fire...if he was ever a contender for Pyramid headliner (though I somehow doubt that) surely he's got to be in the frame for the Other, surely.

Paolo Nutini is far too much of a Pyramid act to headline Other i reckon. he could maybe sub Kasabian? i dunno. although they;re gonna have a hard time finding an act 'suitable' to sub Metallica so he may be subbing them

which is why I want to watch it all. They are all supreme showmen right??

It's just that metal-style of singing I dont like, not him personally.

He has a percussive bark to his vocals - but theres no screaming or off key bleating like Ozzy.

Hetfield is THE BUSINESS. He will convey a level of credibility, sincerity and warmth that someone like Bono could only imagine doing.

I think it will be a poppy dance act.

I will definitely go and see metallica. I think this is going to be harder to watch all the way through even than Jay Z though. The lead singers shouty screamy voice is horrific.

This

Florenceis the one that springs to mind. Will split the crowd quiet evenly

If not it could be Pet shop boys. Could easily swap the two acts if PSB were originially on the pyramid

Well I'll be there. My only metal experience is seeing Iron Maiden at sziget and I couldnt get on with it at all, but the nal (I think) explained that iron maiden are dire and are not a good reflection of the genre.

Much rather see metallica booked than fleetwood bloody mac or eagles anyway.

You're right there, although until yesterday you'd probably have said Metallica are too much of an Other act to headline Pyramid so who knows.

Would also partly resolve the sudden break-off of the mythical rule about T and Glasto sharing a headliner although I'm not sure that alone would be a reason for booking him.

JH: PUPPETS!!

Cannot fucking wait.

Was that supposed to sound erotic?

Disclosure are headlining the second stage at R&L which is a lot less prestigious than the Other at Glasto so would that sit well with people? idk

I'd say Paulo Nutini is more of a 'Acoustic Headline or further down the list on the main stages" type turn myself

co-headlining TITP (i know he's Scottish, but still…) and played third on Pyramid last time. his new album will be massive. definite Pyramid slot i'd say

Paolo is headlining T in the Park, probably subbing V, is predicted to have the biggest album of the year, and is one of the country's biggest ticket sellers, so he'll no further down the bill than third on Pyramid or subbing Other, no way, surely

EDIT: too slow again hahaha

I copied it from a Mills and Boone book...

:sarcastic:

I'd agree with you if this was 2007. If you're right, I'll eat a Growler.
