According to the Metro:

Hes someone that will be amazing one day, hes somebody that we havent had, and we would love to have him at Glastonbury, she said.

But no, we havent booked him.

Thanks. That sounds like there's still the possibility of him playing this year, rather than it being a "definitely not playing this year".

When I first heard the interview and transcript on here I did notice that it didnt state he wasnt playing. Thinking about the past responses from EE regarding Stevie and the stones I thought this could be a similar situation.

Unfortunately I couldnt be arsed (or was slightly scared) at bringing this to everyones attention and thought I'd just led the Prince dream fade away.

Very interesting now though!!!

2nd/3rd/4th or 5th March

Mary Anne Hobbs

BBC Radio 6.

Cant find it on line...but at work... it might not be available on the BBC wesbite any more...

I'm in an email convo with the relevant peeps at the beeb ... fingers crossed I'll get it that way (went from the beeb's website 2 days ago).

The stevie thing was a genuine "he's not playing" - cos at that point he wasn't and hadn't even been approached (presumably someone they thought they had backed out).

And I noticed at the time that Emily's words weren't as clear cut as they might have been, and that it didn't sound quite like a normal Emily, but there could have been all sorts of reasons for that. At the time i chose to take it at face value.

The intonations will tell me more than just the words, which is why I want to hear it again now.

Could it be that they can't book him until he sorts out those Hyde Park gigs that were rumoured at the start of the year?

Last year The Stones were confirmed for Glastonbury on 27th March then a week later their Hyde Park gigs were announced!

This is what i think is happening.

Prince on the Pyramid, Metallica on the Other and Pet Shop Boys on West Holts. That would be a very strong Saturday night!!!! I still think Metallica are most likely for Pyramid though, one can only dream about Prince.

I interpreted it as her saying he wasn't currently booked to play, perhaps trying to stop the rumours that were clearly annoying his management, while at the same time leaving the door very widely open for him if and when he ever fancies it (which could yet be this year).

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
