i don't see him headlining. hasn't he stopped playing anything from his first album bar one or two songs in favour of playing his new album in it's entirety? not sure how well that'd go down really. would've said Pyramid, but he already did that in '13, so maybe subbing Other? possibly to Alt-J?

He's playing arenas on his tour so he's the size of an Other stage headliner. Saying that, I think he'll probably sub it.

Yeah other sub sounds about right

I agree that he will probably sub, but I don't imagine why he would sub Alt J, or more so I don't see why Alt J would headline ahead of him

I can definitely see Ben headlining Other.

Did St Vincent say anything?

not that i heard but I think was a prerecord so would have been cut out even if she had

Yeah his new album isn't especially suited to the Pyramid. It's too different in tone to really play alongside most of Every Kingdom, so if you got too many people turning up expecting him to still be playing that first record in full - which you would on the Pyramid - then he'd get the sort of reaction which led to the Norwich outburst etc.

Other headliner against the weakest of the Pyramid trio please.

I'd say they're a similar size but their tours suggest he's a bit bigger than Alt-J. Alt-J headlining's just based on Neil getting info that they'd been offered an Other stage headline spot a few months ago.

Yeah his new album isn't especially suited to the Pyramid. It's too different in tone to really play alongside most of Every Kingdom, so if you got too many people turning up expecting him to still be playing that first record in full (despite it being four years old) - which you would on the Pyramid - then he'd get the sort of reaction which led to the Norwich outburst etc.

Yeah if he wasn't playing so little off Every Kingdom I'd have suggested him as a Pyramid sub. As you say, his set at the moment wouldn't work at all on there.

i just think Alt-J seem more like a nighttime act what with their light show etc, whereas he's just a guy with a guitar - a sunset slot would do him well

I dunno, I've not seen him live but his new album seems like it would work better at night.

Zane signing off in his usual w*nkish fashion then

Zane basically admitted this himself after putting the question to Ben.

He seems to be definitely in "sign off" mode with bbc. He cursed at least a few times on air tonight. Quite enjoyed it tonight for a change

Folk singer-songwriter Lisbee Stainton, playing something called the PRS stage on the Sunday, who at the same time confirms that Seth Lakeman is playing Avalon the same day.

Added to the playlist.

Interesting. PRS have been partners in the Emerging Talent Competition for a few years.

Wonder if this is a new stage or if they are renaming an existing one?

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
