And they were promoting the shit out of them at the fest this year.

That doesn't mean much, lots of bands have promo crap at the fest when they have a new album out.

If they do play next year I say just be grateful that it has been a 12 year gap between their headline sets.

not long ago (probably earlier in this thread, in fact) i would've said there isn't a chance that Linkin Park would headline R/Ls again, but after Blink went down so well this year (showing that people don't give that it's all just nostalgia etc)i don't see why not. the big gap between them having headlined will do them favours, and i think people will eat it up, if only for the old songs. they may not be as popular or relevant as they once were but live they seem to have their shit together. just as long as the other two headliners (or even just one) is a huge current act a-la Arctics this year

Yeah I agree. I think someone (Andre?) said around this time last year that they'd heard Blink and Linkin Park were headlining and both were laughed off, and Linkin Park wasn't even the most ridiculous of the two. Plus I think there's just not as many acts touring at the end of summer anymore either so there's less opportunity for festivals to be picky about their headliners - a lot of the August '14 European fests had just about the same lineup except places like RES, Electric Picnic and Pukkelpop had a better one obviously.

As with every year, depends on the line up for me. This year, there wasn't even a full day that I felt justified the price. First time I've not been in 14 years.

However, if they booked a strong headliner I liked, with half decent sub/3rd down then I might be tempted. Definitely not doing the weekend though, can't deal with all the dickheads for 4 days.

Wasn't me dude! But Linkin Park got really good reviews at Download this year and depending how their arena tour sells, it wouldn't surprise me if they headlined, they're not really any smaller/irrelevant than Blink, are they?

And I'm planning in going to Leeds again next year. I've been for the past five years and I always have a great time and the lineups always seem to suit me.

They only have 3 dates on the UK tour and I don't think any of them have sold out (maybe one of London shows has sold out, I'm not sure of it).

Linkin Park's recent setlists look an absolute mess - looks like mostly mashups and medleys. maybe it works when there but on paper it looks a bit shit. anybody seen them live lately?

also, looks like Mumfords are in the studio again. not sure if that's enough time to record and release an album for R/Ls / festival season, but maybe something to keep an eye on (would they headline R/Ls?)

They've not sold out the seats but rock bands often don't. Plus they just did Download so people who went along mainly for them probably won't be forking out for an arena show.

I don't think R+L would go near them but many think they would still.

Sleaford mods

I live in a crappy little town called Sleaford, and when they first came out I thought they were from here. When I heard them I thought they were from here even more so. Turns out somewhere else is capable of producing that garbage

    • Lovely Brexit doc on bbc2 for anyone who wants to relive those golden years.
    • I think some folks are underestimating how many millennials, now into heavier music, were genuinely also into things like techno and happy hardcore in the 90s and early 00s. Scooter may be about is commercialized as it gets when it comes to happy hardcore and techno, but for many, they won't be just a 'silly act' they will be a genuine nostalgia act.
    • Can anyone share please as can’t access the app
    • Someone said something along the lines of "the lows were really low but they highs were really high" and I think that sentence sums up my ps experience this year. Thursday was a downer (even though I got to see men I trust, geese, oklou and fcukers), but the weather, the missed shows and the uncertainty (those comms...) made it a bad day. Friday and Saturday on the other hand where rly good, a bunch of amazing shows each day (The Cure one was quite something), that surprise on Saturday...   Will be back next year, hope they get another impressive lineup as this year (quality and quantity wise) and that tickets and  primarily hotels don't get much more expensive.
    • Rosalia Radiohead NIN MGMT Bjork David Byrne   Also Vince Staples' new album is cool. I could see him returning.
