I definitely agree on Bastille being a better fit for sub than Alt J. I was a fairly regular listener to Radio 1 when both were blowing up and I can't recall a single Alt J song.

Alt-J's new album got a lot of support from Radio 1, all three singles were on the A-list for quite a while.

Hey I don't like either, but I'd put Bastille as the bigger band, I mean Alt-J's second album hasn't even gone gold yet FFS, I fail to see how they're big enough to sub, let alone be 3rd down. Likewise it was ridiculous that they were headlining the NME in 2013

They really ain't and I say say that as someone who hates both bands. (Actually hate is a bit strong for Alt J, i've recently found myself liking Left Hand Free.)

I'd genuinely be happy with that fake poster. do people think Prodigy are a possibility for sub? I had them down as headliner or nothing but their tour is academies so?

it could happen, but with them headlining many festival over the summer I see it very very unlikely.

My shot at a fake poster. 2whkwih.jpg

Very believable that, few things I'd change. Can't see Weezer headlining the NME if they play given the stages focus on younger artists, but it would be excellent if they were there. Can't see London Grammar doing mainstage, likewise Kodaline possibly will but 3 slots higher up I'd say. Can't see DFA playing NME, headlinig FR would be my guess for them if they're there and don't think Hannah Wants will be put on FR (Unless I'm stupid and missed them announcing that on Tuesday). Rest of it is very plausible and of the standard I'd expect this year.

Edit: You should make a very unrealistic one (But with a believable appearance) and try and get Spotted Leeds to convince all his followers it's true

That's actually the sort of thing that would save the weekend for me, good headliners in Weezer and BMTH for the two non-Metallica days PLUS closing sets from dance bands meaning I could probably then go catch the Pit headliners afterwards as well would work very nicely for me.

Some good late afternoon/early evening sets from ATL and PTV, a decent undercard on Saturday main and plenty of potential for the addition of bands I like on the undercard for main, NME/R1, FR and the Pit... there's a lot of pressure on future announcements, but I guess this goes to show that the weekend isn't quite beyond salvaging yet.

That's pretty good but there are gonna be some clashes with the headliners though for me

They'll put whoever they want, there are reason someone can't play the NME is because they're too big

How can people talk about acts they like 'saving the weekend' when there's only been 18 acts announced..

Because I'd been under the impression that too many of the big slots had been filled, leaving little to no room for any significant additions that would be enough to justify going for the full weekend. I was thinking it looked something like this:

Mumford & Sons

Alt-J

Bastille

-

Peace

-

-

-

-----

Metallica

-

Royal Blood

-

-

Deadmau5

Catfish & The Bottlemen

-

-----

The Libertines

-

Jamie T

-

-

Rebel Sound

-

-

...although actually, having written that out it doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought. Yeah, you're right - there's still plenty of potential for this to turn into a great line-up for me. Thanks, I actually feel a lot better now.

    • yes, but it will be called a care tax...much nicer name...and they will bin inheritance tax which no one likes even though most people don't pay it....and it will be used to pay for your granny. Burnham is obviously the saviour and will win labour another landslide because he's nice northern lad and not some sir c**t from surrey.
    • Hey, I correctly predicted the entire Bizkit Main Stage day months in advance 😝
    • Its just going to be another dementia tax isn't it? The issue is this is going to be seen as a continuation of the labour government that have already raised taxes 1000% above manifesto promises.
    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
