Things that ur happy about

An old friend has just got a new job. That means she'll be leaving her old post before she's completed delivering some planned training in July. So she's recommended me to do the work. She'll even pass me all of the course material she's prepared. So all I'll have to do is strap on a pair of falsies and a black wig and turn up and say: "Hi, I'm Deb." (Well perhaps a little bit more).

That's really good news. There are rumours that we'll be out of a job where I work in 2020, which would mean that I'll be job hunting at 60. Wish me luck with that :(

Otherwise, I'd be more than happy to have a career change, if I could think of something.

Off to a festival later this morning, so am happy about that. I've never been to it before so it'll be interesting to see what it's like. Also, the festival website said you can make special requests by email, which I did. A member of the festival team rang me yesterday to confirm at what stage and when they'll make an announcement on my behalf. They are going to announce a message to my wife from me ( been married all of 3 weeks now). She knows nothing about it and wont until they announce it from the stage either before or after a certain band (which I'll not mention by name) play. I'm pretty certain that she'll be mortified at how corny it'll be. I fully expect to have the piss taken out of me over it for some time to come, which in some deviant way I am also quite happy about.

Congratulations on your recent nuptials, I knew they were in the offing, but didn't somehow notice that they had passed. Enjoy your festival :)

Thanks Spindles. The festival is kind of part of our honeymoon package. We had originally planned to be at the festival right now. Things haven't gone according to plan. Hoping to be off in about 30 mins though. Hope all is good at your end. :)

My caravan towed really well going to Wychwood so now considering a couple of extras fests in July/August that might be a bit farther afield.

Oh and ordering a new 10 metre flagpole to go with it.

Just had an e-mail from one of my former learners who did an Introductory teaching course with me two years ago to say that he's passed his PGCE, specialising in ESOL.

It's wonderful when you chuck a stone in the pond and hear how the ripples have spread.

If your learners do well you can say "It's because I'm such a good tutor."

If they do badly you console yourself with the thought: "Well they were a crap bunch anyway."

Did you not ask if you could join in?

Tom - think of the health & safety implications of three people having sex on the stairs at work. I'm pretty sure that would require a risk assessment to be carried out first by the works H & S department. If they then turn up they'll want to join in as well. If they seek ratification for their actions from the Board of Directors they may also want to come to the stairs to see the situation for themselves. You can see where this is going - the whole work force will end up shagging on the stairs. I fail to see how this could in anyway help the companies output.

jump - your post has made me happy today. Thanks :)

Clearly your workplace is more fun than mine.

Why don't you change it? Just hang out on the stairs flirting with people who walk past and maybe change the lightbulbs so it's dimmer, take a blanket and have some mood music playing too. I even promise not to disturb you!

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
