did he?

He mentioned middle east and Ukraine...didn't hear anything about Reform/Farage...I mean, he knows that wouldn't go down well...

I think he was very careful as well about the choice of words he used regarding the middle east. Maybe I interpreted it wrong, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't care about the Palestinians - he just wanted to draw attention to Ukraine. This aligns pretty much with the right wing media agenda and the views of many Reform MP's.

Be interesting if the list actually comes out. Bear in mind this doesn't necessarily just apply to politically charged acts - sexual content and swearing will also be a factor. Lola Young might have been one of them on that score.

The decision not broadcast high risk acts live in future is a sad one and one the festival should push back against. They also need to ensure they upload high risk acts they don't show live to Iplayer after the set has  finished. There is no good reason for not having Bob Vylan's set up other than pandering to people who are deliberately misunderstanding what they actually said for political purposes.

jesus.

Ok, what he actually said...

“There’s been a lot about the Middle East, and rightly so,” he says. “But I wanted to draw your attention to Ukraine.”

I was at the stage for her statement and although it was highly politically charged, she was very careful and selective about the language she used. It was borderline, but appropriate and the establishment certainly won't have liked it.

Given that the BBC have come out now and made the statement indicating that they will no longer show 'high risk' artists, it seems to me that something more sinister has gone on here. Even I would have cut of the Bob Vylan broadcast if it was my decision.

It seems like the BBC have allowed it to fully play out so that they can use it as justification to remove the platform for anyone who is likely to make any statements against the "agendas" being pushed. Bad times.

Also sounds like there's an investigation underway and heads will roll - several staff have been removed from live broadcast duties according to someone on news24 just now. Did they volunteer to walk the plank - part of the plan?

"alot about the middle east and rightly so" That doesn't really give much away about his stance / views on the middle east. But most of Reform are of the view that Israel has a right to defend itself, and must eradicate Hamas. They see what Israel is doing as legitimate. Maybe I am wrong, but I imagine Rod's thoughts are with the Israeli people rather than the Palestinians.

A lot of Reform MP's are happy for Ukrainian asylum seekers to come here, but not middle eastern ones. Given that he's openly admitted to being a Reform supporter then there's a good chance he shares the same views. There wasn't a mention of Gaza or Palestine in his short words.

This is true, which is why I have said that maybe I am interpreting it wrong. But given his track record for supporting Enoch Powell in the 70s and his anti immigration stance back then, I think that my interpretation of his statement has a good chance of being accurate.

Didn't know about supporting Enoch Powell.

So...yeah...you possibly are right...there is a hierarchy of sympathy based on various prejudices.

But, I'm still just taking him for what he said.

(and don't get me wrong, he was probably the worst thing I saw all weekend and when it all started going simply red I was out of there).

Yea I was kind of coerced into watching him and it wasn't great. Has a few good sing along tracks , but was bored for most of it. He as off the stage 3 times for about 20 minutes in total doing costume changes.

I saw a newspaper article which said a Jewish person would not be going back to Glastonbury based on what he felt watching Amyl and the Sniffers and the crowd. He has avoided West Holts that afternoon.

It could be the person is sensitive and/or has strong views that what Israeli government are doing is correct, though at the same time I'm a believer in assessing what people can do better.

It do think some people feel as though they have to pick a side, and most people on here know that is not the case and there should not be hate towards Jewish people.

I live near a Jewish populated area and I am keen to find out what the general feeling is about Glastonbury and what went on v what actually went on.

I also read some things about Jewish people who were at Glastonbury, who felt like they had to hide their true identities due to the "anti-Israel" sentiment at the festival. I also find that very sad, as for me the festival has always been about acceptance of others and inclusivity. Everyone should feel safe there whatever their identity.

People also have to remember that all Jewish / Israeli people don't align themselves with everything their government does.

We sat last night and watched awful horrendous heartbreaking images of four little girls being carried into hospital, in agony, covered in blood after a drone strike by the Idf.
and yet the story about a chant at a festival still makes the headlines.
Sickening

it is heartbreaking and awful and wrong...but often national news takes precedence over international news...that's just the way it is. People are just less interested in the international stuff.
