I agree - don't see him as a Glasto headliner myself either.

From a size perspective, it's hard to argue against him being big enough, but he just doesn't feel to me to be in line with who the festival would normally look to as a headliner.

Think Bruno is only about 5' 3" so have to agree.

It’s a bit much saying Michael ‘likes’ killing badgers. It’s not for sport, it’s to protect his dairy herd from TB. Ok some dispute a cull is necessary but when a farmers  livelihood is at stake I can see their point. Pity that Brian May takes this stance, but now it ain’t the Queen I remember anyway.

I thought Brian May's pro-badger position was already well known and was likely going to rule them out anyway. So I'm surprised he needed to be asked about it.

Yeah deffo ain't for fun, but arguments these days don't like subtlety eh?

Yeah I know...maybe that's why he responded that way. Sick of the question

1. Very little if any evidence that it's badgers spreading TB, just as likely to be poor animal husbandry (not accusing who ever looks after his herd of this)

2. ME, nor Emily, or for that matter anyone involved at the farm needs the income from the cows.

Tbf Micheal is old now so isn’t likely to change opinion on that , maybe things move on when he passes . I mean one of the Gallaghers slated it fairly recently and they are now firmly in the picture … things change . Also I’m not sure we know there is or has been tb on the farm ?

The RSPCA acknowledge that Badgers DO spread TB. They don't agree with the culls (obviously) but believe more can be done to prevent the spread. Sounds fair and reasonable.

I'm not going to dig through a 24 page document to find where they explicitly state Badgers spread TB but they state this:

"It is our opinion that there is far more to the spread of bTB than the badger"

The scientific evidence culling actually works is very poor. But could go back and forth on this all day obviously sending each other different sources.

That quote in itself is admission that they do spread TB. It's not the only factor obviously as they allude too. A badger cull to prevent the spread of bTB is disproportionate.

I'm pretty sure that the presence of a quarter of a million humans over the duration of one week is of much greater detriment to the wildlife and environment (and maybe even the livestock) than a handful of badgers across an entire year

Yeah but as I said, the majority of farmers have an irrational hatred of wildlife. Any excuse

Olivia Dean

Oasis

Harry Styles

Can certainly see it being a fully British trio next year, anyway. A lot of good options about, it seems.

So you think Olivia is who Emily booked this far in advance. I think its Raye  despite the slot last year. its happened before.

Last time he toured 2 summers for one album so would imagine the same again. I assumed it was stadiums or nothing but then there were some rumours about a Coop live residency in Manchester

Welp, stadiums in europe, MSG residency in NY. He probably does more extensive arena residencies in north america next year along with a possible glasto appearance. I think he will be few and far between on the festival bookings too cause of what he can do with solo shows.  He can def fit more Wembley dates around Glasto of course.

Can you remind us of who and when please? I can't recall anyone subbing on the Pyramid and then headlining the Pyramid the following year......

That's a fair point. To be honest with Raye's big arena do and Reading plus Glastonbury etc before 2027 is probably a year off and a return in 28 or 29. That said too, Charli similarly will likely be done for next year too. O-Rod has done it, Sabrina lack of dates this year points to potential. I don't think Olivia Dean will get it yet, I think she's more her fans than broad. So Sabrina or Harry

I think the Queen thing still gets floated due to Brian May's "never say never" comments to The Guardian in 2023:

“You can never say never, but it’s a very big matter of principle to me. I am convinced, more than ever, that the badger cull is the greatest crime this country has ever committed against wildlife. It’s completely pointless and the tragedy is immense: you’re talking about nearly half a million native animals killed and it’s not benefited farmers one bit... I don’t really want to endorse his festival, but it’s not impossible that we could sit down and talk. I’ll talk to anyone – that’s the way we go forward."

I think his more recent comments make his current position very clear though!  Huge shame as Bohemian Rhapsody on the Pyramid Stage would be quite a moment!!  But fair play to Brian May for sticking to his principles!

Indeed they did, subbed in 2005 and headliners in 2007! 👏🏻

Emily will do it again if its the difference between a female act headlining and not though. But I do think at this point with touring etc that Sabrina is the likrly female option.  While there are many female options about, I think some have been used and others just won't be around next year. Like the fallow coming early has kinda ruled them out in return.

    • I think this is the most likely scenario, an extension to their off-site offering in some form.
    • It's been pointed out to me that Just Mustard have issued a new graphic with all their summer dates including the Saturday of EOTR, where I had them down for Friday. I can see AdP subbing or third down Woods in that case, but then (and remembering we lost one potential name in Lucinda Williams) that leaves a gap for a good Garden headliner...
    • My daughter had a really disappointing arrival experience at Download Festival 2026. After arriving by coach, she waited hours for transport, she was taken to the wrong place twice, then left waiting again because shuttles refused her without wristbands, even though she hadn’t been taken to the wristband point. Staff seemed unprepared and unhelpful, and the delay caused a serious pain flare-up for her and meant refrigerated medication could no longer be used. The tent is now leaking too due to someone breaking it. We’ve emailed a complaint and are asking Download to acknowledge what happened and make it right.
    • That said they're playing the festival on the Friday and need to play Manchester Psych Fest the next day.    Could they play late at night and still make it comfortably in time...hmmm
    • Any thoughts or theories on the secret set. I’m hoping for Dillinger.
