So you would have litter, and where do people go to the loo?

last Saturday loads of people came down the hill to try and break in.

and these ones people were planning on travelling especially for it and those added people with everyone from the actual shows trying to leave would have made congestion even worse.

it’s a shame but I understand why they had to close it off.

Agreed about the toilets and litter, I took my own rubbish home. Ironically they have put some toilets here now, and could have placed a few bins? As for people running down the hill to break in, word got out that some people had breached the wall, and about 50 young lads ran down to try and get in and where back on the hill in a matter of minutes when they realised it wasn't going to happen.

I went for a run on Sunday (not hear the hill) and the place stank of piss from all the actual gig goers releaving themselves post gig, so sorry that excuse does not wash.

As for congestion at the end, the Stewards sent people in the opposite direction via a separate exit on Saturday so no issues.

There will still be as many people hanging around the park on Saturday, just without the view.

I'm on Gallagher Hill now. Its all very civilised.  Seemingly lots of Police and security here but they are letting everyone onto the field. The view is none existent but audio will do.

Picked these up at an ICJ pub in town. May seem a bit churlish but good gesture as most of the money (other than manufacturer cost) is going to support homeless charities in the city. More of this would be welcome as the money being spent in Manchester during the gigs is incredible.

Fantastic 😍

I went down for the first hour with my 7 and 8 year olds though they are up for school in the morning so will bring them back on Sunday for the full gig again!

Like you said, sadly not visuals now though still lots of people around. I reckon it will be more rowdy on the weekend when more people drinking!

That was excellent.

I feel incredibly lucky, firstly getting tickets via the presale for Manchester and then secondly succeeding in the front standing ballot too. Extra special to see them with my own brother. What a privilege, what a band!

A nice touch from a proper old Mcr (and red!) boozer.

I'm no Oasis fan, hits only for me, but gotta say that atmosphere is among the best I've ever experienced. Everybody belting every word. Hard not to get swept up in it. Ashcroft awful mind you. Seen him twice now and both times it's been like a funeral until Bittersweet comes on.

I completely disagree mate. That was one of the most Mancunian things I have experienced for a long long time. Families from the estates who would not have afforded one ticket never mind a family, lads and dads (and daughters), retirees in deck chairs, football lads in colours (city and united) and no bother anywhere. Policed well from a distance. It was completely surreal and unifying at a time when the citizens feel constantly at odds with each other.

I also loved that one man's fence became another man's VIP platform.

Absolutely love how music can bring people together.  This will make such lovely memories for everyone who was there, I sincerely hope it’ll still be a thing this coming weekend.

I think the Mancunian weather may curb the scenes slightly. Also wondering if the "authorities" may deem a slippy grass bank to be something they need to "mitigate".

It would be shame if it does get curtailed as it's the best version of the cheap seats I've experienced.

Quadrophenia 2025

Just remembered the cow pat dodging. It all just added to the surreal nature. 20 somethings on the herb howling at having to play cow pat Twister.

I wasn't even bevvied (driving) and keep getting flashbacks.

Me too, let's hope the council killjoys don't find something else to stop people enjoying the music.

100% I went on Saturday and it was a better atmosphere than many gigs.

Last night seemed a bit more reserved, maybe because less alcohol in peoples bellies, and I wasn't drinking myself at both of the events as I was driving too.

I am going to the actual gig on Saturday, though I will take the kids again on Sunday as they are loving the sing alongs.

You can walk in via entrance 14 and across the park so no access issues, as you say the only h&s issue are the the cow pats 🙂

Great to take the kids to this. Setting a high bar though for gigs one has jibbed from a cow pat laden field on a hill.

Oh wow... what a couple of days. It is definitely up there with one of the best gigs I've ever been to. The atmosphere was SO good. We were fortunate enough to be in the front front section and the way I squealed when they put the wristband on me.

Also, having been a tiny bit apprehensive of how the crowd could be it was full of lovely people. I think, while the front ballot frustrated a lot of people and the front front was just whoever got there, it absolutely was a good choice. Nobody could buy their way in by spending silly money, the people were SO grateful to be there.

Very little trouble. No piss cups from where I was. Just an amazing show. AND, where we were staying at a campsite in Bury we managed to get from fireworks to campervan in 45 minutes using the tram and an Uber. Seamless. I know people had trouble with the transport network, but I gotta say Manchester does public transport SO well.

I also came home with the BEST vintage finds. The Northern Quarter really is a gift.

Loving that you loved it mate. The Northern Quarter gets bad press but my take is I worked in one of the dark satanic mills there 88-90 when on the acid / pills every weekend. The clubs were epic but the pubs (some were epic) were already starting to fail.

Stephenson Square is a vibrant go to destination. It used to be United and City kicking sh*t out of each other. I know as was one of them.

The city is evolving like life.

Perhaps you can show us round Victorious one year?
