Hey does anyone here have an experience of volunteering with refreshwest bars at glasto? Ive done oxfam the last 3 years but i honestly find their shifts go by sooo slowww normally so am interested in doing bar work instead. Can anyone give any insight to what the rw shifts are like, campsite, meal tokens etc? Thanks

... oh I didn't read the thread title, just saw the post on the side and thought this was referring to a problem I'm having where this site will randomly just revert to blank pages.

Thinking about it from a personal/selfish viewpoint, this new points thing for Oxfam doesn't really change much for me. Was it 21 points over the last 7 years? So Glastonbury plus one. I usually do that anyway. Very occasionally I do an extra one, even more occasionally I only do Glastonbury.

Main problem is fewer to choose from.

Bearded was one of my regular ones. I'd happily do Womad again so hope that comes back. No desire whatsoever to do Latitude and Wilderness again. And Latitude is too far. As are Beautiful Days and Boardmasters. I would like to give BD a go but it really is a long way. I enjoyed Boomtown when I did it but no real desire to do it regularly. No interest in Leeds/Reading. Would happily do Shambala again but August Bank Holiday weekend is tricky for me. And unfortunately the music at Download and Trees holds no interest

It did change but has been changed back and the new page deleted. URL of now deleted page was https://festivals.oxfam.org.uk/info/new-priority/

there’s screenshots (and lots of unhappy folk) in the Glasto WhatsApp group

Where are peeps reading about the Oxfam priority points based system and that Glasto won't count towards it any more? The priority faq looks pretty much unchanged ATM.

See @stuie post quoted above. 😊

Ah, so they haven't revised and re posted it yet. Probably waiting until after the applications have finished...

My guess is that they will post the update on Monday before priority opening on Tuesday.

@philipsteak

If you like Bearded Theory then Beautiful Days will be worth the journey for you I think.

Not sure where you live, but we live in Morecambe right up by the Lake District, and BD is no harder to get to than Glastonbury because it’s straight down the M5 & hardly any distance at all once you come off. It’s just an incredibly straightforward drive.

Glastonbury isn’t as far down the M5, but there’s a fair bit of driving after coming off at J23 which makes it actually far more tiring imv.

It’s the only festival we’ve worked with Oxfam where we’ve actually come back feeling rested! There are some boring shifts, but nothing as bad as Stickleball!

I'll probably get round to it eventually.

I'm a little bit further north than you in Northumberland. I break up the journey to Glastonbury by staying at a mates in Bristol then just do that last bit to site on the Monday morning. I think I just look at the map and BD looks so much further.

Would be a bit cheeky as if there are big changes it won't give peeps long to modify their plans.

It's better than posting it after when give already made plans. They would ideally make it clear what you need for 2026 before opening 2025.

They do need to tell us that Glastonbury now counts for 0 points / nothing before we sign up for Glastonbury, surely?

Yeah you'd hope so. I wonder if they're thinking since it won't have an impact until Glastonbury 2027 they don't have to. As I think this has been proposed with Glasto in mind rather than thinking about other festivals.

I guess if you've only done Glastonbury with Oxfam then they'd think you've got a choice to pick up a second one in the off year.

I think this only really becomes very unfair as a system when applying for Glasto 2028 if you did it in 27 (having to effectively do 3 fests to go again). Which is a very long time away so plenty of time for it to change.

This is my concern - I would like to know what the intended new criteria is for priority qualification in 2026 now ideally, so that I can correctly satisfy that criterion when I select festivals to steward this year on Tues 4th...

I think that’s something they have to clear up. Glastonbury doesn’t earn any points under the new system, but will you still be credited for past Glastonburies?

The wording on the page said From Glastonbury 2025 it counts as zero, so past festivals would have been 3 points still.

And this was also there (but taken down at the same time)

Helpful to have the clarification. For Glasto 2027 you'll "likely" need 9 points made up from 2025 and 2026.

So two non Glastonbury camping festivals and three day over the two years.

Like I said before it only becomes really unfair ( in my eyes) when applying for glasto 2028 if you did it in 27, but that's so far away.
