Is that 3 days of the official festival, or does it include the point of arrival for Oxfam briefing, and the often day before events kick off for punters to arrive...

Ok make that; It's 3 points for a weekend festival - so you need to do 3 of those in 2025/26 to get priority in 2027

Just looked back over my last 7 years history....

So have done 7 up to 2024 (so have priority this year)

Have to work Glasto as have no tix, but no longer counts.

7 years rule up to 2024 = 21 points I believe.

So, if I do one other non-Glasto, 3 day weekend festival in 2025, that keeps the 21 score for 2026, yeah?

Then if I do one other non-Glasto, 3 day weekend festival in 2026, that too keeps the 21 score for 2027, yeah?

Or am I barking...

"After a Glastonbury fallow year, we calculate priority slightly differently. It's likely that to have priority access when we open our applications in 2027, you'll need to have either:

Accrued 9 points in the previous two year (2025-2026)

Accrued 21 points in the previous 7 years (2020-2026)"

It's under the faq here

https://festivals.oxfam.org.uk/info/priority/

I agree with everyone that it's a bit too much like 3D chess right now trying to figure out a Glastonbury back up.

Possibly time to consider switching to someone else tbh.

Ahh FFS that is unbelievable! It all feels designed to catch you out, sorry.

I love the 'it is likely that to' bit giving us all the confidence they won't just change their mind in between. Be better to kill off priority altogether with that uncertainty.

Still says 21 points in 7 years though for 2027 as a possible olive branch to old timers - thus with 21 up to last year, another 3 this year and another 3 in 2026, that would still appear to keep it alive....?

Err yes so long as you've done 6 in 2019-2024, and then 6 in 2020-2025 that would do it

I think 🙂

Evening all,

What do you think the availability for priority spaces will be like tomorrow?

Only as I’m working in an area out in the sticks which has really poor signal, I may not be able to get on until later in the day. Is it likely they’ll go in the first couple hours? As I’m guessing a certain amount get held back for general sale!

So  to get priority for 2027 you will need to do 1 other festival this year and 2 other festivals next year?

Yes, that's right. But if you want to get first pick of those 2 next year, you'll need to do 2 others this year. But if you do that, you'll only need to do one in 2026. Confused? I am ...

They've given an early indication of the rules for 2027, might change but right now they indicating you'd need to have 9 but earned over 2025 and 2026.

Or 6 points from 2026 only.

In previous years spaces have gone very quickly for some festivals. If it's Glastonbury you are after it should be fine, I don't recall them ever running out during the priority week. 😊

On the 2 year rule I think yeah. For me it's seems that topping up 3 points per year for the next two years from my current 21 would keep me I each year?

For 2027 - "Accrued 21 points in the previous 7 years
(2020-2026)"

That’s right.

You can maintain your ‘7 in 7’ in exactly the same way with the ‘21 points’. system. The difficulty is that if you can only do one festival a year, you can no longer maintain your points with Glastonbury. You can only maintain your priority points with other festivals.

2+ festivals a year people are unaffected.

One thing that may help those who can only do Glastonbury, might be that there’ll be less people with priority in the new system, & it’ll go back to being easy(er) to get an Oxfam place at Glastonbury without priority.

Yes - so long as your 7 in 7 to 2024 isn't say 2 in 2018 and then 5 across 2019-2024 (eg due to Covid period)

Those 2 in 2018 would fall off the back for 2026 priority counting leaving you 2 short

The change sounds alarming but I don't think it is. I actually had to write it out to get my head around it (I went up to 2032). I normally do Glastonbury + one other. I can continue to do this and will have 21 points over 7 years, the only thing is that in future fallow years you would need to do two others. This seems doable enough.

Yes, yes and yes - thank you amfy - this all follows and is logical. It just takes G out of the priority loop.

Yes, I thought of that. I selected a festival in 2021 but couldn't work it due to COVID. However that year, specifically, Oxfam granted that as a priority year. This did not happen however in 2022 for any that were booked and then subsequently cancelled.

If Glasto was one of your 'priority' years then yes. I actually haven't worked Glasto specifically since 2011, doing others like BT, BD, Shambala, Boomtown instead.
