Thursday coaches should be arranged so the last scheduled arrival is by 2pm, I think there is less of them on a Thursday anyway and the roads aren't as busy.

By the time 2027 comes around, tickets will probably be around £450 and some people might feel a bit aggrieved if they're paying that and have to get there at 6pm on a Thursday.

 

A lot of events / festivals have tiered pricing depending on arrival day and if there was specified Wednesday & Thursday arrival tickets (in general sale), I bet the vast majority of people would be willing to pay £40 extra for a Wednesday arrival.

 

Not married to the idea but something that other places do!

(edit: or, as another member wrote, just guarantee an arrival time by 2pm at least on the Thursday)

I honestly never realised you didn’t find out time till this late, that’s annoying when booking other travel.

 

8.30am from Bristol on the Thursday. Do you think we’d arrive at like 10am? Hoping to be set up by lunchtime!

Would imagine you will be arrived by 9:30 ish and straight through the gates ( maybe a few min), then it's about finding a space.

7am from Manchester, 6:30 return; had booked a flexible single home (free cancellation 24 hrs before) in case of a ridiculously early return. Now a bit torn; pack up and leave stuff in property lockers on Sunday and stay out and then take 6:30, or aim for the later Nat express bus

Yeah the Thursday arrival for space for a tent is concerning. Any tips welcome!

Tbh an hour for a Bristol coach would be quite optimistic even without all the potential (quite likely) delays.

 

By the time they load the coach up, distribute the tickets, and set off, you've probably already well past the scheduled departure time. Then traffic approaching the site will still be pretty busy and can easily lose a lot of time.

 

Would say 90 minutes is a realistic target, and it probably won't be much less.

 

I usually get the 7:30 coach from Bristol, and tend to get through the gates somewhere around 9:30 to 10am.

I have always arriving around lunch Wednesdays, but certainly not complaining!

I'm massively grateful. Had the fear of a 4pm departure and missing out on the Weds, which is a HUGE part of the festival for our group. Absolutely buzzing still!.

45 min travel time. youll be fine since its Thurs.

 

 

edit: read some comments. Ive literally  taken a coach from bristol at 10am on Weds and it was easy as pie. got there by 11, no traffic. the coach from Bath is a short one too.

National Express has it as 3.5hr from London Victoria to the festival

We were on the 7am Sheffield last year and arrived on site about 4.30pm.. I think  there were a couple of bad traffic incidents around Shelton mallet which delayed us massively - normally we’d be on site around 1pm.  So I’d guess the 9am might be more like 3pm arrival.

Got ours in the resale. Thursday from York at 0845. Guessing Darble may be the least risky place to camp if arriving that late?

 

Return 1230 Monday. Will definitely be doing what I did in 2022 where I got a return from Southampton but managed to get on a half empty coach back to London at 6am instead

Anyone reckon Lime Kiln Ground near Woodises will have space left as of Thursday mid morning? That's where we camped last time and we quite liked it and it's an ok walk from PGA

Yeah i see your point! As somebody who arrived 3pm last thursday it was a bit gutting to not only wake up wednesday and spend the whole day not at glasto, but then to get there thursday when there was already music!

All depends if the stewards on the gates are sending people up there or if it gets marked as "full" early on. 

Last year that area seemed to be much quieter than previous years (I go for Hitchin Hill next door). There also seemed to be a high concentration of tents next to the path and that meant the space in the middle and close to the fence wasn't taken up. So worth a go. 

If you're not a huge group you can usually find a space in Hitchin Hill / Lime Kiln. Though the additional family camping around there has made it harder.
