Yeah i see your point! As somebody who arrived 3pm last thursday it was a bit gutting to not only wake up wednesday and spend the whole day not at glasto, but then to get there thursday when there was already music!

When I've previously got the coach I've luckily got Weds AM and arrived by lunchtime, but I would be a bit annoyed at paying the same as everyone else if I arrived Thurs PM given now there is a lot of stuff to do and see on the Thursday during the day.

I would agree they should take a bit of money off the Thursday arrival tickets even if it was a small amount to compensate.

Yes, I’d be gutted if I arrived Thursday PM, I was a bit miffed we arrived late afternoon rather than lunchtime on Wednesday last year cos of the traffic.. missing out of Wednesday and most of Thursday is so much of the festival gone already.

All depends if the stewards on the gates are sending people up there or if it gets marked as "full" early on.

Last year that area seemed to be much quieter than previous years (I go for Hitchin Hill next door). There also seemed to be a high concentration of tents next to the path and that meant the space in the middle and close to the fence wasn't taken up. So worth a go.

If you're not a huge group you can usually find a space in Hitchin Hill / Lime Kiln. Though the additional family camping around there has made it harder.

Ah I didn't realise ones got marked as 'full'. I've got a friend going on the wed to hitchin hill so i'll get her to have a scout on the thursday morning. Cheers.

On the flip side of this, when I was trying for coach tickets this year, I had accepted we may not camp up until Thurs evening and I accepted that fate. Only doing the Fri-Sun was a better idea than not going at all.

TBH Wednesday daytime is a bit of a non-event for me, its mainly arriving/setting up/chill at tents etc for me. Don't usually get 'out and about' until early evening.

Here here … I’m a creature of habit . And have camped around the same area near woodsies for around 10years …. No advance party this time . So the late wed arrival has really thrown me out . Will now be rushing about Wed when before I could take a relaxed tour of the site and then rock up to the meet . Now I’ll be having to rush to get there and that’s Wed gone . My favourite day . I’ve been told by several I’m lucky to have tickets and yeah I get that but I can also be dissapointed at my arrival time . We had things absolutely sussed for arrivals after perfecting over a few years and this has just thrown me

We were on the 7am Sheffield last year and arrived on site about 4.30pm.. I think  there were a couple of bad traffic incidents around Shelton mallet which delayed us massively - normally we’d be on site around 1pm.  So I’d guess the 9am might be more like 3pm arrival.

Cheers, fingers crossed for a boring journey!

Perplexes me that people go for coach tickets knowing the system then get annoyed when the time doesn’t suit them. Just try for normal tickets and you can arrive how you please.

We went for coach tix and only Thursday was left. It’s very much a take it or take nothing type situation with tickets being so hard to get.

about 8 I think. TBH I was already pished by then

Quite impressed with the coach drivers there. On a good run it's 7.5 hours so they must keep the breaks tight for you guys and just get you there (which is exactly what you want!).

Is everyone just kipping or do some start the party then?

I've tried to stop having drinks on the coach - getting older and there's 5 long days ahead...

I would gracefully suggest not going for coach tickets next time if things like that annoy/throw you!

We went for Coach tickets just to get any ticket.  From where or when didn't matter.  None of our friends went for coach and didn't get any in general sale.  As I said to my wife.........."its a ticket, we're going, everything else is just logistics".  4 of us driving to Bath from Manchester Weds eve, for coach Thursday at 12.15.  2 of us in Worthy, 2 in small tent looking for room from Michaels Mead and further out from there. 2nd time going and last time my wife was teaching and couldnt leave her job until Friday lunch in 2022, so she is experiencing more this time.  There were train strikes on that year so i was prepared to drive back and get her that day if it came to it........thankfully not

It's not like you can pick the time or even see a list of them in advance of the sale so whilst you might know the day you don't know the time and at £400+coach fare it's now becoming more of an issue for the value of money.

Yes but you don’t have to try for a coach ticket. The main sale is on the Sunday for just normal tickets.

I agree to an extent, but the Festival really could do better here. The lack of upfront times from most departure points (anywhere other than Bristol or London) can be a real problem - enough that it can fundamentally affect plans and cause extra expense.

For example if I were to get a coach from Birmingham - then the difference between a 7am and a 8am departure affects whether I'd need to get a hotel on the Tuesday night so potentially an extra 50+ quid. That's probably nowhere near the most extreme scenario, given people end up travelling all over the place. At this point they really should be able to sell specific times up front from all departure points.

Issue is also solved by not trying coach tix and just going general

I agreee,

We don't go for Coach tickets unless from London when you know the time. If you're willing to take the gamble on getting tickets earlier knowing there is a risk attached I think its a bit mad to complain when it doesn't pay off exactly as you want.

I go for coach tickets but I only go for Weds departure from Oxford (closest to where I live) in the November sale, then try in general on the sunday.

If I'm in for a resale I widen my net a bit and will take Reading or Swindon for Weds departure and then try for the sunday resale if I don't get anything.

I won't go for Thursday as I know I'd moan about missing too much of the festival/crap camping pitch etc.

In my case, the issue is solved by going via Bristol where I can choose my time.

But what you're saying pretty much amounts to "you should be available to depart at any point on the day, and not complain regardless of when that happens to be" which seems more than a little harsh.

Even if I went from here, a 5am departure (need to book a taxi) is not like a 7am departure (easy to get the bus or tram in), and neither of those are anything like a 4pm departure (lose most of the day by the time you get on site) so of course it's reasonable that people are going to have and express a preference.

45 min travel time. youll be fine since its Thurs.

edit: read some comments. Ive literally  taken a coach from bristol at 10am on Weds and it was easy as pie. got there by 11, no traffic. the coach from Bath is a short one too.

Hmmm. Living and working Bristol getting anywhere from the centre during rush hour in 45 minutes deems unlikely. Spoiler alert - rest of Bristol doesn't close down for glastonbury. I'd day if you allowed an hour and a half you'll be either on time on pleasantly surprised.

That’s not really what I’m saying. I’m saying the system is known and clear and totally optional. Go for tickets in main sale if you can’t handle the not knowing.

all the young dudes had pillows and blankets and went to sleep. Us two auld Still Game lads cracked open the cargo and next thing we knew  we were there. Levels.....

See you on the coach, I’m happy it’s not 3pm there but was hoping for a 6am one 🤣

Haha, yeah could be worse. And at least we're all in the same boat (well, coach...).

I've only ever got there early Weds before, so my main worry is finding a pitch. But, once we're there it'll all melt away and we can make the most of it.

Also curious about what the hell to do on Monday until 3pm! Again, only ever left early hours, so it'll be new to me.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
