  1. The email to oxfam staff has just said the cancellation deadline is 4th may.....
  2. I was working on Gate A Saturday night a few years back when a coach driver wearing a shirt and tie, rocked up with a digital camera and said (in limited english) he wanted to take a photo of site. I was on the far permiter of the Gate and watched as he just glided past all the check points, walked as far as the food trucks after Gate A and took a photo of the glastonbury skyline and then walks back out again. Could have easily disappeared if he wasn't so genuine
  3. A few thoughts re the line up: 1) for me the Pyramid line-up feels like it is missing big name Subs. IMO the 2nd line could move down easily Seems like unanimously the Pyramid line up is weak this year; I wonder how this will affect crowding at other places if we see low numbers at the Pyramid. 2) Friday night looks clash central. I'd easily go and watch any of the headliners. With Dua being the only Pyramid headliner I would have been interesteed in seeing. Idles vs Fontaines is odd- going to make a guess and say that they share similar fan bases but most would chose Idles over Fontaines? Could we see fontaines do an earlier 'headline' set with a DJ taking the last slot? 3) Saturday looks dire. Going back to the crowding issue I think we may see large numbers heading early to SE corner/ Arcadia. Will this cause more crowd issues or alleviate them? 3) Echo other comments, line-up as the usual list as opposed to stage splits would have made it look better
  4. Another interesting poll would be "Will you be trying for resale tickets?" I'm lucky to have a volunteering spot, so will be going either way. However, the plan was initially to try for resale tickets as I've never actually not worked a Glastonbury and I've wanted to, actually once, experience it obligation free. After the initial lineup release I'm questioning if I'm going to bother with resale tickets with the cost being nearly £400 now. I do feel it might be slightly easier to get resale tickets this year.
  5. Keep trying if you have the proceeds button... Just got one for my wife 1 minute ago
  6. I enjoyed the Shrinel Richie a few years back when he played. All night long, all night long.
  7. ... Try working in the Oxbox during that time 😂 Loved Boomtown and would be back but the time of year doesn't fit anymore unfortunately. It's great that most stewards are in the thick of it, surely what you want at a festival instead of freezing your nuts off in the middle of nowhere? After falling off the priority list at Oxfam, luckily I managed to get a spot at Glastonbury. No idea how as I was trying 'under strenuous circumstances'. Stripe then asked for a an SMS code to verify my number, turned out my number wasn't the one registered to the email. Didn't even know I had a stripe account. Managed to get through to the manual entry page and tried google pay which failed a couple of times. Eventually I entered the card details manually and after about 5 errors it went through. My wife, who was trying elsewhere failed. She's now admitting she might not up for working festival so might be me solo. We've decided that I'll go either way... It's been 5 years!!
  8. Good news about the Oxfam bus, although every year I am reluctant to take it as for me it has broken down on at least one of the journeys to or from site! Dropped off the priority this year as last year didn't manage any festivals due to work... will see what happens next week.

    RATM

Me too.. incredible day. Not seen a crowd like it.
  10. I got through to the reg page maybe even just before 6pm, couldn't tell... Entered the details and took me back to the holding page. Not a sniff after.
  11. Not if you have a UK address and payment card I believe
  12. Was just about to go for a nap before an very early morning wake up call where I am, so glad I checked! Battle Station was all prepped ready Feel for those the other side of the world who are already asleep and will wake up to the news!
  13. Overall had a decent time at Bilbao BBK. A few points: -Wristband exchange at San Mamés worked really well, as did the wristband payment throughout. - We pre booked the buses as opposed to the free shuttles and that worked like a dream. The walk up for the last 10-15mins was a bit annoying, especially with a sprained-ankled wife! Buses back afterwards were efficient as well. - Booked the hotel months ago and didn't really think about tactical location until closer to the festival when things were more expensive, but I would definitely echo the recommendation staying by San Mamés or at least next to a metro stop nearby. We walked back the first night from the festival site down steep hills and up again (somehow) wasn't great at 4am. Faffing with the metro and then another walk was annoying too. Taxi was quick but added another 10€ onto the night. - The toilet situation was idiotic. There were massive queues as the bathrooms were mainly placed together, but if you skipped the queue then nearly every time there were loads of cubicles free past the first block, just the queue wasn't filtering down....Literally open doors could be seen but no one was shuffling down, and many people turning their nose up at toilets in a state that you would only dream of at other festivals. - Bars were generally fine but the bar staff were mainly incompetent; paying 10€ for a 600ml cup of beer which was 40% head was not on and a few of them got arsey when I asked them to refill. - Idles, Arctics, Murder Capital, Phoenix, colectivo Da Silva, Chems were the highlights for me. I'm not a Pavement fan and I only know a couple of songs but they were underwhelming and the crowd was tiny by the end of it.... Wouldn't even fill the up until the first crush barrier. There were a few other questionable placements- Young fathers on the 3rd/4th stage clashing with Idles was a killer! The Royksopp delay massively killed the mood on the Saturday after Idles, we didn't stay for Leftfield but I wonder what impact was had on their set? Overall an enjoyable break, although it's definitely a festival I'd only return to if the lineup was a good one!
  14. Didn't see the prices but I saw the ads and it definitely had double digits in the dates... 11-13July I think.
  15. Just seen them at Bilbao BBK and imo they were the best you are going to get at this stage in the monkeys' trajectory. Similar setlist for the most... View in place of teddy picker was great. It felt like, comparatively to what I saw on the Glastonbury broadcast, that the classics had been sped up, not completely but a fair bit more. Perhaps they've taken things on board. From a fellow drummers point of view, I sometimes felt like Matt would come in from a chorus fast and then adjust himself slower again. Wonder where/who this has come from. Alex's voice was bang on throughout. You can see the whole persona and show that they're going for. Maybe translated to the pyramid it just didn't hit.
  16. Problem was there was just no break from the sun during the day. Remember watching SE's set in the shadow of the disabled platform/ delay tower for most of it I feel like origin benefitted from a bit more shade late afternoon due to the shape of the bowl?
  17. I've managed to end up with 2 spare seated tickets for Sheffield on the Saturday night. They came to £182 for the pair if anyone is interested on here?
  18. Rage Against the Machine had a small percentage of tickets at vastly inflated prices for their USA tour. Caveat was that the extra was raised for local charities. Guess that's one way to do it.
  19. I had forgotten about the the bar staff controversy last time. The Freeman's compound was in the festival's main walls, but there was a manned desk over the entrance, so maybe there is truth in that the workers were not allowed to leave. Disgusting if that's the case.
  20. Just on the train back, and all in all it was incredibly successful, especially with the conditions; Absolutely sweltering and my god it was dusty (lungs are in agony now), but obviously those aspects are out of the organizer's hands. The condensed bowl if anything helped, as imagine having to trek further between stages. Personally I thought the cashless system worked well- it certainly sped up payment and I didn't experience any issues. From where I was working, I didn't hear of the system going down past Wednesday morning, yet the cash machines and data connection continually did. I'd be happy to see it at other festivals, especially Glastonbury. Lineup was underwhelming when it was released (with a lack of big or 'must see' acts for me personally), but managed to keep a full schedule when not working and it was all fantastic.
  21. The thing which has grated me is the back peddling that they have done recently in their interviews and statements, when compared to their initial lineup justification on their website: we will continue to book incredible headline artists, and all the festival favourites, but by approaching our programming announcements in this radical way, we can create lineups that are even more phenomenal and diverse than we have ever been able to before. 'll be there and really hoping it goes well, but currently it does feel a bit like the last days of Bestival. Hoping I'm wrong!!
  22. I'm in two minds... It must be remembered that boomtown tickets are one of the most expensive in the festival calendar, and that lineup is pretty underwhelming....
  23. Boomtown Twitter mentioned the app would have the full line up on the 7th August.. not sure if there will be anything beforehand!
  24. Crowded House on the TV the crowd looked tiny.. crowd was broken up/empty past the sound desk. I'm not there but my two cents are: - Security/ stewards- if it's the same as last year there is still a big shortage after the pandemic, not to mention staff dropping out last minute with COVID. Was certainly the case last year. - Weak lineups and the shift to mainstream. I.e. Sugababes and TLC in previous years may have been considered 'novelty' acts which, if up against other strong acts maybe wouldn't have attracted larger crowds? Pyramid stage was piss poor yesterday. - I think after so long maybe people just aren't used to big crowds and don't remember what it was like previously? Queues have been insane for places for years at night... Maybe we're all just remembering things differently?
