2025 Headliners

I'll be honest, American periodicals appear to be drawing a bigger focus to the fact it is a career-killer for Drake than the actual quality of the performance, which seems a bit weird.

When he's on, KL can put on an absolute corker of a conceptual show. The tour behind Big Steppers later that year was top-drawer.

Sorry slightly of topic - but just watched the HT superbowl show - thought it was superb.   Still feel KL was underrated at Glastonbury.

If you knew is back catalogue before he was at glastonbury then it was a phenomenal performance. Not sure how it went down with those that don't know him.

Oh and f**k drake with his ghost writers

Sadly I was a TV viewer as was not there that year - but It inspired me to dive into his back cataloug and caught him on his next tour - been a massive fan since.

Hey and on Drake.......  He was just tryna strike a chord...................

I'm more surprised KL's show hasn't gone down in the truly rarefied annals, but think there's a two-fold reason so far:

1. Crowd size. It wasn't a poor crowd, but it was smaller than a lot of others. Your big pop headline shows tend to be appraised on those merits as much as anything else.

2. Paul McCartney. I'm not saying that you shouldn't be allowed more than one all-timer headline set in a weekend, but I think opinion can sometimes coalesce around one standing above all others at a festival, and it feels like Macca has been considered the top-dog performance from 2022.

Of course, I could be barking out of my backside. Just my thoughts.

I was also a tv viewer for it. 2 weeks before our boy was born, no chance glastonbury was on the cards..

I thought it was superb and he smashed it. Would love to see some of his more recent work on the big stage, though I know it'll be a few years yet.

Haha drake got called out live to 150million  people for being noncey

It was pretty incredible. Audacious, cheeky, uncompromising.

One of the most noteworthy performances in the history of rap. All whilst leaving the best of his discography on the shelf. And wearing bootcut jeans.

That's impact.

Couldn't leave the jeans out of it.

I love KL and thought his pyramid set was incredible.  It is in my top 5 pyramid headliners but I agree that I'm not sure how it would have landed with people who weren't fans.  I think he would have won over a lot TBH.

The superbowl show was awesome.  Shows both sides to him really.  He can do bangers and also make a really compelling show from his less well know stuff.

Me and Mrs C are not hip hop fans and are absolutely not in the demographic for ‘typical’ fans in every way but we thought the headline show was amazing.  His writing and performance of said tracks is brilliant, but the artistry in the show was stunning. We thought it was one of the best headline shows we have seen on the pointy one. And we have been going since 2009.

My missus had never heard of him but saw me mumbling along and she thought KL was really really good, me, not so much

Consensus among those in my group who were not big fans was that he absolutely nailed the Glastonbury set.

I read back media reports after (because I was buzzing so much off it myself in Glasto aftermath) and consensus was that it was an all timer - particularly for the rap genre.

I think it's top 5 for me but I do think the Sunday night pageantry atmosphere, the wait after 2020 being cancelled and the fact that he was one of my faves I had never seen really was the extra over that made it special. The set itself is a bit of blur tbh but I know I was losing my sh*t at the time.

Is it a thing that Kendrick's Pyramid set wasn't highly regarded? It was quite possibly the best live performance I've ever been to

i just felt the set was really stop-start. there were really large pauses between songs. remebr my and my mate who is a bit kendriks fan left the set thinking there must have been some technical issues slowing it down.
