Agreed it's no WAP, I just question how much of her ticket sales are really attributed to the chaperones of underaged fans who are spending all this money on her. I bet her Glasto crowd will be filled with the 18-25 year old demographic.

How can that be when the demo of the fest is majorly above 30......

and somehow if Taylor Swift played instead of Olivia it would be more family friendly when she pretends to grind and also some handplay on her body. Very Pg for the cameras.

Hope you dont figure out what Chappell Roan sings about.

I don't think parents are buying concert tickets for family outings to hear Chappell Roan sing about having another girl eat her out.

And I question what the demo of the fest will be for this forthcoming edition; if that one Resident Advisor article was right, there will be more and more young people attending for the party aspect.

Not anymore, the age gap for Glastonbury has come down considerably in recent years. That's pretty obvious.

that's exactly how I felt about it until I went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance.  As someone who never got to see Nirvana, I found it incredibly emotional to witness them play live, each song with a female vocalist of a different generation.  I don't think it's a show that needs to tour, but I love that some formation of the band happens from time to time.  It's like a getting one more hug from a friend that's passed away.

Am very jealous you went to that.

Could be Dave's way back strategy.

*If* they were going to tour it...who would you want up front? "I don't want them to tour" is not a valid answer to *this* question.

Joan Jett was the pick the other night - thought St Vincent was all over the shop, which was odd. John MacAuley of Deer Tick has been the best of who they've had so far, so he'd probably be my pick, though I think Dave would pick a female vocalist, which is fair do's. But who?

Any gender...

Kim Gordon would be it for me.  I like John MacAuley too.  Patti Smith would be cool.  I also wouldnt mind something completely unexpected like Andy Shauf or Alica from the band "Bully"

It took a lot of convincing on my friend's part.  I wanted nothing to do with it, but there were so many other amazing acts on the bill, if the nirvana thing sucked it was worth it to see the rest.   I was way up in the rafters in quite possibly the worst seat in the house.  Still loved every second of it.  Lots of tears.

For the avoidance of doubt, my quip about Rodrigo selling twice as many tickets, as her fans needed to be accompanied by an adult... was a JOKE.

Not that it means anything for Glasto, but just heard Rihanna is confirmed for 2 nights in London this year, ya never know…

Can't believe how little traction this is getting in this thread, considering that this thread usually holds on to any tiny shred of hope for something. I'm just gonna say, what I've heard puts Rihanna in the frame just a much as Olivia Rodrigo and more so than The 1975. The only difference is the argument of "Would they actually do the festival?"

I've suggested at length that the price tag would be too low for her. We've also been bitten enough by Rihanna tour talk for an age now.

The info on The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo came from sources who specifically checked them for the festival. Now, if this info comes up with chat of the G in the mix, then fair game.

Fingers crossed would love something to stir the mix somewhat … hopefully you’ve heard the dates put her in the vicinity

She’s been on our rumours page for some time, so there is some consistent recognition of the possibility

Few years ago some friends of mine in their early 40s were pleasantly surprised to find themselves amongst people of a similar vintage at a Lorde gig at (I think) Ally Pally. Took a little while for them to realise they were essentially in the parents/chaperones holding area. They weren't there with kids themselves.

Do we have any info of The 1975 doing anything else yet? Or is it looking like an exclusive they drafted in after Fred bailed?

Or...it could be a duff rumour.

    • Really well done, Primavera. Maybe the biggest name on the lineup as a surprise. (Ecpecially if Robert joins this)
    • There's one way it can get bigger- if Robert Smith joins her on stage
