This on the Pyramid. Released today. If Sam really was "not in their plans this year" then they've missed someone about to hit their absolute peak next year. Massive fail.

Nothing about that says they are missing an option, it tells me more Werchter should be embarrassed to book it. It's just a low key version of what you get by going to see Bruce.

I know it's each to their own but that's average as it gets.

It’s a notch down from the big songs on album two, but it’s good enough to sustain his momentum which is all he needs.

I think it's more immediate. The big songs on album 2 were actually growers that became massive over time. Be interesting to hear what else the album has to offer.

I mean.  People are genuinely raving about this?  Sounds like he's taken Boys of Summer and removed any of the remotely interesting flourishes.  His output is just all so magnolia and indistinguishable I just don't get it at all.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve tried so hard to get into his stuff. A few stand out tracks and the rest all sounds the same.

Each to their own but not for me

howcome so early?

likely economics. A lot of festivals have announced earlier than usual and I think they want to get this out sooner rather than later because people can make a financial decision while they still have money. The holidays havent happened yet so theres money to be spent. And you would give people an extra couple of months on a payment plan which doesnt hurt either. But its also encouraging that the lineup is ready to go. Its just of a matter of whats been booked thats even justifying this. Either its god tier or they dropped the ball again.

Very vanilla, this. Like a b-side off of the last album rather than a glorious return.

Or maybe I got my hopes up too high after seeing him in a studio with Adam of the War On Drugs...

Just all feels extremely safe 6/10 light rock music to me personally.

If they have a direct choice between him and Fred Again I think it should be a no brainer to go for the latter (and I don't particularly like Fred Again)

I completely agree with that. If I was Sam and I'm offered it I'd be snapping that up now.

Aye who he's left for seven years then is sad about it on her deathbed on coz it turns out care homes aren't very nice.

(I know that's not the sentiment but it's just so badly put together. But because it's got a momentus soundtrack no-one will care.)

This got your hopes up? They sound exactly the same! Like bad Springsteen B-Sides. And I don’t like Springsteen.

Genuine question. What do you think would constitute "God tier" these days? Is there a festival on the planet currently offering such a thing?

for coach its gonna have to be 2023 level of bookings to be seen as that. Former headliners sprinkled in there. Rare bookings and then surprises of course. I dont know if anyone has that right now but its all subjective. I am sure if the lineup is great that a lot of people on here will be scratching their heads as to why, when the top lines will have artists they have no clue about. And that shows the difference in who is listening to what. Coachella doesnt give you 80% of the same ol stuff that everyone knows cause thats boring and lazy.  Glasto people want that 80% of known stuff so then they dont have to listen to a lot of new stuff in the lead up.

anyway. Coachella has one glasto headliner at least. And they wont be billed that high either

Ive already expressed distaste at the current rumours etc in previous threads (specifically for the Pyramid headliners) but I've just been told by my new manager at work they've booked off Glasto week already for their own holiday and I can't have the whole week off. I was told to 'try for a ticket and we'll see what we can do' - which I will do. Either way I won't be able to be there until probably the Thursday evening assuming I get a ticket as I'll be expected to work. Not sure I'll bother now. Will decide tomorrow before I go to bed. Bit deflated now.... It's a cost Vs benefit exercise for me now with the increasing ticket price and perceived value for money so we shall see.

Not totally about headliners so apologies

I can see Stevie making up the trio. Fender alongside those two just feels a bit... off, to me. May be wrong.

I will be intruiged if they don't go for Fred. I remember hearing some time back that he was lined up for big UK shows in 2025 - Wembley big. Not sure if that's still in the offing, and if it would play into him not doing Glastonbury/festivals. Time will tell I guess

Does Wembley even have slots for concerts left? I know they've expanded from where they were but Coldplay have 10 dates there, Oasis have 7, Dua Lipa has 2, Linkin Park could well be popular enough to justify a second date so I feel like it's running out of room.

Although tbf London has a ton of other stadiums to play with.

    • I think a Take to the Skies set would probably be the thing that gets me to go to this. Couldn't give a f**k whatelse is on there if that happens.   Feel like Knocked Loose might be too big by that point.
