Really hope so. A tight hour set from them with the hits + some new stuff would be a hell of a way to start off the proper weekend, although I just hope that they’re there altogether.

Now they’ve got the gig on Sunday and they can’t headline JP if the rumours are true so that opening other would fit

Could easily just be third/fourth down Other though, but for the sake of avoiding clashes (and just how good it’d be) the Other opener is ideal.

Yes, sure there is.  The problem with the Chinese lanterns is that they can fall to earth and cause fires .

I went to see Suede last night at Southampton Guildhall. They were fantastic. It's the first time I have ever seen them as just never been able to over the years for one reason or another. And they didn't disappoint. 

I'm still on a high from it. They would be a great Other Stage opener. Really hope it's them.

I like Ben Howard, but he is VERY tame for a Friday morning. It depends how tired/hung over I am. I might sit on one of the back benches with some food and then go in for Hives. If not it'll be resting until they're on.

His old stuff is great, but he stopped playing it when he brought his new material out which isn’t really to my taste. I’ll go nevertheless if you see a scouser napping at Ben Howard don’t wake me up

however i appreciate the gap with LS for the purposes of full bar / food / toilet break after hives and before carly rae

And then literally not seeing anything else on the other for the entire festival 😂 quotsa is of course a good booking but elton is a non negotiable

I think that's how it always should've been. Always hated the slot but always felt I should go down because its someone I like. Its usually a massive struggle. I don't like Ben Howard but would definitely watch if it was something similarly chilled that I like

Have any of the Friday Other openers since they started booking bigger acts in ‘13 been received as anything better than ‘was alright’? Maybe they realised that their former approach of booking has-been indie for the lads was falling pretty flat on its arse and tried a different approach, or they simply couldn’t find any appropriate acts of that ilk that wanted to do it.

I don’t mind Ben Howard and I can imagine he’d be a pleasant enough way to start the day… but also very much a ‘get breakfast and sit back to kind of watch him’ kind of act rather than crack a can and get back on it one.

I'll watch Ben Howard while having a late breakfast/early lunch. He isn't a must see for me unlike previous Other Stage openers. But the set will be something to do, I've never seen him before and I have a suspicion that I will end up quite enjoying it.

I much prefer seeing him in a tent like Woodsies and he does not fit the booking and the expectations of this slot in recent years, but I'll take what I can. He's tremendous live but he needs the right setting, hopefully he will win some of you over🙂

Yep Ben Howard isn’t one of them but my first act of the day clashes are ridiculous, got more options than I do at headliner time.
