When has stopped Glastonbury booking people?

it hasn't, just thought i'd give my review of the act people are saying would be great, then he should have been great last time!

your missus looks a bit like debbie, doesn't she? (i think i remember you saying that).

Yep, when Blondie headlined in '99 we were prepared. The missus had her hair done like DH' s current style. A beautiful friend of ours was prepared to look like DH's glamorous friend from LA. I and three friends had matching black trousers, white shirts, black combat boots and fake ear pieces on curly wires.

As soon as Blondie finished we hotfooted it up to our bus in Greencrafts and the girls got dressed up, did their make up and us lads got dressed as DH's security detail. We then launched ourselves into the night with a group of friends going ahead of us pointing and shouting 'wow, it's Debbie Harry'

 Did it work? ....

Oh yes, like you wouldn't believe. Photos, aurographs, star struck middle aged men finally meeting their teen fantasy.

We were out until about four in the morning ending in The Casino. Not one single person saw through it, it was one of my best ever nights at the festival.

We've met people since who have told us that they met DH that night. We heard a few days afterwards that it was said on Radio One that if you think that DH is past it you're wrong, she was out all night after her set.

I could write a very long post about that night 😁

and last time he played his manager was logging on here randomly  to say how great he is, is that you? lol

Assuming you meant to quote me and not yourself?

You’ve got me… all these years I've been posting here in disguise and I’m actually Rod’s manager waiting for my chance to big him up.

Time for a lay down mate.

i've seen both and can guarantee you're wrong.

Setting your subjective opinion aside, Rod has more recognisable, singalong, mainstream songs for the Sunday PM Glasto crowd.

It’s irrelevant anyway, you said yourself it’s not Roxy so why you keep bringing them back up remains a mystery!

I've seen both too, and disagree. Whereas Rod was, and would be, an underwhelming headliner, he's the perfect fit for the legend slot. Lots of cheesy bangers of different tempos; arms in the air singalongs to Sailing, through to a bit of disco with Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, and a few rockers too. Bring on Ronnie for Stay With Me.

I remember leaving the venue in October having just watched Roxy and having a discussion with Mrs b about the fact that they were really great live, but would be much suited headlining another stage rather than baffling a Sunday afternoon Pyramid crowd with In Every Dream Home a Heartache and The Bogus Man. There's no sign of any further Roxy activity since the autumn tour, so I'm not hopeful they'll play at all.

Musically Roxy Music are streets ahead of Rod, but he's a much more suitable "legends slot" act.

RM - Acoustic or Avalon headliners.

That's only true for those whose musical educstoon, skipped one of the groundbreaking British acts.

Didn’t Rod repeatedly dedicate the 2002 set to ‘our brave boys in Afghanistan’? Not sure he’s a great reading of rooms or, in this case, fields

Yeah there was lots of that jingoistic crap it drove me away.

Rod is not dull by any stretch, you may or may not like his personality, he may not be able to perform or sing well, but he is charismatic and has plenty of catchy tunes = not dull.

Roxy may musically be better, and more respected as an act, but to the average punter in that slot they would be dull, certainly a lot, lot more dull than Rod.
