i dearly love Bruce, but even my beloved Bruce can fuck right off with the cost of tickets for next years shows.

I guess you choose more carefully when prices are how they are.  I work in London so can go straight from there at lunchtime to Bruce, and have never seen him live before so going for it.

I’ve seen Blur and Pulp in big outdoor spaces before though, and feel no need to revisit them without new material.

2009 was perfect, just everything about it. The trepidation and excitement of the band, the joy as they took the whole crowd with them. The singing on the way out of the Pyramid field and into the campsite. I don't see how they could beat it.

It was the most perfect coming together of crowd and band I have ever been a part of.

I was at the farm, but waiting for some lame tipi field stage my then gf wanted to see (they ended up playing later than blur anyway).   I had Hyde Park tickets for the following week.  This was a mistake, as the atmosphere and sound was undoubtedly better at Glasto, and Hyde Park was just ok.   But it would never have topped Neil Young on the Sunday for me, being my favourite artist of all time.

i've seen Bruce 47 times and it breaks my heart really for me to even be saying these things about him.

except for occasional shows, there were no "gold circles".

Bruce would basically charge the same price for tickets - in Europe you would queue for a day, sometimes more, to get in the pit (same as a gold circle)... it was part of the magic of following Bruce... being with other dedicated fans who put in the time and effort to get to the front - and didn't have to pay an extra tax on top of the GA price to be there.

in the US you'd get a number throughout the day, then before showtime they'd draw a number to determine who got first entry. again, it took a bit of effort and dedication, it didn't take having to pay out extra.

Bruce subscribing to all this gold / platinum / diamond bullshit is what makes me sick.

that's before we even get onto fucking "dynamic pricing"...

don't get me wrong - i do WANT to go. i just also want to make a stand.

can't stand Blur so don't really care about what they charge.

saw Pulp at Glasto in '95... which can never be beaten so have no wish to see them again.

Either of these are infinitely better than gold circles.

Honestly even for folk on minimum wage the difference in price for the golden circle is less than the couple of days off work you'd need to do to do the stupid queue thing. 2 days of my life is worth more than £100.

I think the reason Bruce is doing gold circles is because of this weird system that grew up around him, leading to the same people being at the front of every single gig.

Here we have someone defending ridiculous prices again. I'm sure "the boss" is absolutely loaded, didn't he recently sell his music for some ridiculous sum. If there's one rock superstar whose beliefs suggest he should do shows as cheap as possible it's him.

As for the "cult of Bruce", they may be even weirder than the "cult of Swift". Dead heads were bad enough back in the day, but at least they had drugs to blame.

Not the prices overall, just the golden circle. The Springsteen tickets really were too expensive but may be the last chance to see him in the UK at this point so went for them.

Would always get seats for him anyway because of the ridiculous queue weirdos.

Was my first too, was so happy when they were announced, definitely lucked out.

and me! Incredible gig, up there with the best. Was the first time I saw Bruce Springsteen that weekend as well as the first time I saw Blur having been big fans of both for ages. None of the lineups since have come close to those two in the same weekend for me. An unbelievable start to Glastonbury going

Wembley is bollocks, and as I live on the south coast getting to northern France is quite easy - this French festival they’re playing is in Caen, which has a direct ferry link from Portsmouth! Might well look into whether going to France, seeing blur, and coming back is cheaper than going to my own capital city ffs 🤣 it’ll be a far more fun adventure too!

I love Bruce too, and this will be my 14th, 15th, and 16th times seeing him, they didn’t do dynamic pricing for Ireland. I don’t know whether that’s because there’s something in law that doesn’t allow it, or whether we got our ticket sale in just before it became a thing. Maybe it’s because gigs are so bloody expensive here anyway! Although I doubt thy would bother anyone who wanted to charge more.
