Maybe I’ve just been following them more closely in recent years and more familiar with their usual performances, but I think Axl sounded genuinely pretty good by his recent standards. He was far from awful from what I saw on TV but maybe it’s just expectations going in.

It's f**king Mark Beaumont. The Neil McCormack of Baz Bamigboyes.

McCormick slightly kinder this morning. However this made me chuckle.

Guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan still look the part of grizzled rockers who only function at night, but Axl Rose just looks weird, like an aging small-town hairdresser who has been working out too hard at the gym.

Just found this in my Facebook feed, from someone who used to work at glasto
Is he “singing” a different song to what the band are playing?  It’s a shrieky, out of tune, shambolic mess.
Good to see everyone lowering their standard for this one. It's not completely garbage, Slash can still play his guitar probably so it's good!

How some people consider Axl's performance as passable is beyond me.

I loved it, fantastic stuff.

Axl voice went as the gig went on, though Slash made up for this.

I was stood down the front on left hand side near Water Aid tent and was similar size to Metallica and Kendrick Lamar

How was it compared to AM's crowd size? (Or dare I say it, Lana's Other crowd?)

Mark Beaumont

Ben Beaumont-Thomas from the Guardian would have given it 10 out of 5 and said it was a transcendental experience and reeled off so many superlatives that the reader vomited. His reviews are beyond embarassing (try the Sam Fender review from Glastonbury 2022).

How dare rock stars get old. Off to bed without any tea Axl. You look WEIRD.

Dickish journo comment imo

I walked from Leftfield. Lana's crowd was very big, but not as big as the Hives got... but the sea of people from the pyrsmid was incredible. Never seen anything like it during an act.

I walked into the pit with ease. That was at about 10 to 11.

GnR were genuinely great, I went in with no expectation and was pleasantly surprised.

Slash still absolutely has it and Axl at times sounded alright, he clearly lost his pipes but at least he isn't Alex Turner and the monkeys who just phone it in and f**k off.
