Nevermind what horrors lie underfoot, it's the thought of my tootsies getting mashed in a crowd that gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Making sure the kids have their enforced toe cap walking boots on every day for this reason

Not sure I agree - the days I can shed the walking boots for trainers is a real treat

And that's why there must be zero rain

+1 for the day that the trainers can come out. I'll wear walking boots most of the weekend but by Sunday my feet are in pieces and need something lighter/breathable.

I do not want any rain at all but if we had some the only plus I can see is that it would calm down the dust a bit, I am thinking I might keep a face mask on me for walking along the railway line as the dust was so bad last year. I actually felt like I could still taste it a day or two later.

I had such an awful cough after I got back last year. I can only imagine it was the dust

on the plus side I barely needed to use any dry shampoo when I was there.

You sure it wasn't covid? That's what I brought back with me 🤣

I just always assumed it wasn't a virus as no other symptoms... but maybe! I'm sure it was kicking about everywhere 😷

My mouth and throat were definitely irritated by the dust, I noticed the same thing when I helped someone move house a few months later and I was shifting around lots of dusty boxes.

I love listening to a drop of rain on the tent, so im willing to accept a daily 20 min shower at some point between 7.30 and 8.30, to make my morning ablutions seem heroic - and to keep the dust down. then it can climb to a max of 24 degrees with scattered clouds and patches of bright sunshine.  suntan lotion is just about justified, but it doesnt need re-applying, and i wont be all manky and sticky. Thats what i request, and i will take no further questions (or abuse) on this matter.

    • Very quiet in here at the moment.....again.   I hate this time as other festivals start and we see who Sziget should've booked 🤣   The Cure knocking it out of the park once again at Primavera showed that they have fans of all ages and, even if it's felt they don't represent the direction Sziget is going in, they would've been a huge draw.   Ditto The XX, who I've never been a massive fan of tbh, but put me in my place at Primavera with a cracking set.
    • Ballots for BST and Roundhay dates on TfG
    • Yeah, I feel like people are really overlooking just how fantastic Simple Minds are. ABC have a classic 80s new wave album behind them as well.   That being said, yeah it's not worth travelling for. But it's a lineup I would be happy with if it were local to me
    • On the Wet Leg crowd - the opening day always has the worst crowd of the festival. A lot of locals show up purely because it's a cheap evening, often with not much interest in the acts performing, so, while the talking is an issue throughout the festival (and increasingly at gigs/fests everywhere) it's particularly rough on the Wednesday every year. I'll only bother next year if I really like the act playing.  The wristband is basically a souvenir these days, which I like, as I keep them. Also I guess for the festival it's kind of cheap advertising as people walk around the city with them on.
