The nation's terrace chant.

Dunno why but this reminded me of some people having a fight at an Arctic Monkeys gig I went to in London in 2013 over a fan that wouldn't stop singing a Manchester City chant about Yaya and Kolo Toure that was in vogue at the time.

Seeing him tonight. What time did he start and how long was he on for?

On the Troxy website it was billed at 8.45 but when I arrived it was on the screens at 9pm and he started on time. Did not pay any attention to the length of set.

Jack White at the Troxy tonight, very enjoyable but always feel he could play more out and out bangers when I go to see him. I guess thats the price you pay for going to see some one who changes their set up. Saw he played Little Bird and Hotel Yoba the night before back to back, love those songs. However, he played Steady As She Goes tonight and they missed out on that, swings and roundabouts.

Seeing him in Brum tonight 😽

Yes was there also, my highlights were Pretty good looking (for a girl) followed by Hello operator. Also like ‘that’s how I’m feeling’. Agree with what you said, it was good, but not my favourite time I have seen him.

Saw Lenny Kravitz on Friday night and he absolutely smashed it.

Great weekend to be honest 😊

Agreed Pretty Good Looking was easy the highlight and did stand out to me.

Sounds like you had a top weekend, that’s a pretty strong due of gigs.

Saw Fat Dog - f*cking hell that was good -

was concerned after a venue upgrade might be not full but no problem on that front - crowd was bouncing -

Also probably the widest age range ive seen at a gig in ages - groups of 18 year olds - stood next to veteren gig goers.   a good time had by all.

I was there on Saturday as well. Great gig. Glad I had my ear plugs!

Also went to Peat & Diesel at Brudenell last night and was superb. Would love to see them on the farm.

I was at the Troxy on Saturday and then Birmingham O2 last night for Jack White. brilliant both nights and others have said with a pretty different setlist both nights i got a real treat. Black math, Broken boy soldier, Steady as she goes, Sixteen Saltines and Dead leaves on the dirty ground the highlights for me across both shows! Hope he makes it back to the farm in the summer hes some performer to watch live!

Went to see Heartworms + Mai Mai Mai yesterday.

Mai Mai Mai is a very interesting project. The DJ creates beautiful soundscapes, but the performance also relies heavily on the video projections. I had to get used to the sound for a couple of minutes (I have no clue about the support act before we went there), but really enjoyed it!

Heartworms was great as well! The new material is really good and shows that Jojo Orme is a very versatile musician. 'Retributions of an Awful Life' used to be my go-to song, but that might have changed to 'Jacked', which sounded absolutely amazing. 'Consistent Dedication' and 'Beat Poem' were also really intense. Definitely go see her this tour!

Doves were incredible in Manchester tonight. I didn't realise Aviva Studios had a second smaller room but it was even better than the main room!

So good to hear those songs live again, and loved the new ones too.

It wasn't over sold so wasn't packed. I'm liking this new set of modern venues with wider stages like Aviva, Co-op and New Century. I'm done with older and over sold converted theatres. We had to leave Kasabian after a few songs last week because of the ridiculous way Shepherds Bush Empire is set up and how it's accepted that a fair amount of the crowd is at the very back watching through a letterbox, and the likes of the Ritz, Apollo etc in Manchester are just horrible to be in.

How was it without Jimi singing? I really wanted to go but love Jimi's voice, so didn't end up booking. really wish I had now.

This is good to hear, seeing them next Friday. Really thought they'd be on the poster yesterday to be honest, hopefully one that will get added on the next round.

I thought it sounded really good, and I guess the songs are more atmospheric anyway, which is probably why they can get away with it. Jez did most of the singing (with the other guitarist doing a lot of backing vocals) and Andy sang 3-4 songs.

Its obviously going to be a taste thing, some people won't like it. I felt there's so much else going on in their songs that it didn't bother me at all, and there's the songs off the new album that he sings anyway too.

I'd definitely give it a go when they next do something local, even if you're not 100% about the singing on the night, the rest of it is exactly as it used to be, just in smaller, more intimate settings.

Also they're on again tonight!

First night of the Levellers Collective tour in Guildford last night. Touring the reworked versions they've been doing on the Collective and Together All The Way albums, band fleshed out with some of the Moulettes. Adds in cello, more guitars (steel, lap) and more percussion.

Quite odd being a seated gig for the Levs, but settled into it.

I'd maybe call it one for the purists? Hearing their classic material arranged differently, reworked and in some completely different styles was perfect for me. Still played some of the more well known stuff obvs but also a clutch of deeper cut album tracks that they don't normally do. For all the times I've seen them I think last night's the first time I've heard them do Believers from the Green Blade Rising album for example.

Either way I loved it. Felt like a chance for them to stretch their legs a bit. One of my grumbles when I see them is how much they tend to defer to the same tracks (and I get why they do it) when they've got a 35 year back catalogue to play with, and this was a perfect counterpoint. Happy days.

    • I'd definitely consider a Blink/BMTH/FNM headline trio. If they can get Edguy over for one of their last shows, it'd probably seal the deal.
