I've not seen Pulp so couldn't comment on the former, but their Glastonbury headline set was the stuff of legend based on time, place, opportunity etc. Horses for courses innit. Problem with Muse was as they got more bombastic and the shows became more elaborate the music also became much less interesting. Give me Jarvis and the gang rattling through “Do You Remember The First Time?” over some nonsense from The 2nd Law with elaborate props and choreography any day. Mellotr0n
Fair points all. Muse isn’t the hill worth dying on either way. I was a big fan of them first 3 albums era and have some great gig memories from that time, but I can acknowledge it’s been diminishing returns ever since. To be fair this is exactly how I feel about them. I am also prepared to tolerate a lot of their nonsense just for the sheer, visceral, face shredding riff that is the ending of Knights of Cydonia. EssexIndie
Problem for me is that Origin of Symmetry is virtually the perfect album (my opinion of course!) but anything after that pales into insignificance. They still have some great tunes, and are superb live, but deep down they aren't the band I wanted them to be as their high point came so early in their career
