U.S. Presidential Election

Thought I’d resurrect this thread given last nights announcement…

Trump is officially running for President again in 2024:

Not that there was any doubt that he would, but considering he’s just lost the republicans the midterms and they all seem to slowly be turning their backs on him in favour of DeSantis instead, this is gonna be another fun couple of years in American politics. Cannot wait for the Republican primaries and then to see what Trump does when/if he isn’t the front runner. Cannot wait to see the party tear itself apart with Trump hanging like an albatross around their neck.

Biden was actually electable though.

Just shows you that a two party system doesn’t work. You don’t vote for who you want. You vote for the least worst option.

They tried the 3 party thing for a while in the 80s and 90s and it caused chaos.

Trump's call to eliminate the constitution is evidence of how out of touch he is.

Let the guy run. Biden will win without breaking a sweat.

It’s quite funny seeing Republicans in equal parts trying to distance themselves from him but also clinging on to him just in case he does actually win the nomination. They’re so fucked. 2020 was a real nail biter, but a Biden/Trump rematch (which I hope it isn’t, but a very realistic possibility) would go to Biden handily.

yes, quite likely now after these mid terms were seen as not so bad for the Democrats and Biden.

Surely his age is a massive determining factor … although that could probably have been said last time … when’s this election? Need to update thread title

Christ.

Next election will surely be 2024?

Yes, his age is a big factor...but it's kind of up to him isn't it? If he feels up to it, and that he can win, he'll probably go for it. Some people will maybe try and persuade to step aside, but he's probably been emboldened by the midterms, and Kamala Harris who was seen as the most likely to stand is now not seen as any good.

200+ pages though about the 2020 election so probably makes sense to keep as is.

Good shout. Someone could start a new topic with a new topic title

Seems to be a consensus online Vivek Ramaswamy won the first Republican primary debate. Maybe DeSantis isn't going to be the one to benefit from Trumps issues.

Ramaswamy is a f**king nutjob who seems to be pandering to the MAGA crowd as best possible. Does well in online polls but when it comes down to it, he’s dead in the water.

Desantis is an absolute personality vacuum who has gotten less and less support the more he’s appeared to a wider audience and has just gotten far too wrapped up in all his anti-woke bollocks.

The clear ‘winner’ imo was Nikki Haley who was one of the few who seems to have her head screwed on/not totally insane, but unfortunately for the majority of todays Republican Party, that’s a negative these days, and y’know… the fact that she’s a woman, and not white, so she’s got no chance.

I know it’s foolish to call it this early, and we’ve still got over a year left, but I just can’t see a scenario where Republicans win next year, especially with Trump looming over them as the constant front runner. If it’s Biden vs. Trump again, Biden wins.

    • Had a wonderful booking in one of our primary woodland venues this weekend. A 30th birthday arranged by a load of musicians and entertainment industry professionals. It was primarily a folk oriented event, however I noticed one young woman who didn’t seem to fit dress and appearance wise. Turned out to be Frenetic, one of the top up and coming UK Jungle and DnB DJ’s.    Anyway Saturday night turned into an EDM session and I got to do a set. Slightly nervous considering who was there, it was great and Frenetic loved my set. She’s closing Data Mine at Shambala this year.
    • they got lucky and the thunderstorms stayed away. It was still wet of course. Some of those boot sucking puddles did emerge from what a couple friends saw who were there.  Post fest aerial also below   and also a sapphic mud wrestling contest?
    • It's even less funny when in real life too...   Liddle met Rachel Royce and the couple soon became romantically involved.[84] In January 2004 the couple married at a ceremony in Malaysia. They had been living in Heytesbury, Wiltshire, and had two sons together. Six months later, Liddle moved in with Alicia Monckton, a 22-year-old receptionist at The Spectator. It transpired that he had cut short his honeymoon with Royce so that he could be with Monckton. Following their divorce, Liddle and Royce exchanged attacks in the media. Liddle called her a "total slut and slattern"
